“Campaign season is in full swing, and by tapping Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate, Republican candidate Mitt Romney has made clear that his campaign will try to hit President Obama where he appears weakest: on the economy and the need for drastic fiscal reform.
For voters, the tepid recovery and high unemployment rate will be points of focus in the two months and change before Election Day Nov. 6, but for investors of every stripe – from those managing retirement portfolios to amateur stockpickers – there are plenty of differences between the candidates that are worth diving into.
That was what struck Tim Steffen, director of financial planning in Robert W. Baird’s wealth management business, and it’s why he put together a handy guide explaining where each candidate stands on issues ranging from income taxes and health care to just how big a cut Uncle Sam will take out of dividends and capital gains.
The latter points are critical for investors, and Steffen explains that the dividend debate will be particularly interesting to watch. Many investors play the income game by purchasing shares of companies that deliver profits back to shareholders in the form of dividends.
President Barack Obama has proposed raising taxes on dividend income for Americans that make more than $200,000 per year ($250,000 for couples), and keeping the current rates steady (0% on qualified dividends and 15% on carried interest) for those below that threshold.
Republican challenger Mitt Romney would maintain the current rates for those making more than $200,000 annually, and completely eliminate taxes on capital gains, dividends and interest income for any taxpayer with less than that in adjusted gross income.
“Dividends are a big [issue], both on the tax rates and what will happen to companies’ willingness to pay,” Steffen says. If the tax rate changes, some worry fewer companies will follow the lead of those like Apple, which initiated a quarterly dividend this year, or Cisco Systems, which recently hiked its payout by 75%, opting instead to buy back shares. “It’s a concern,” Steffen adds.
He argues that Obama’s plan would increase the cost to all taxpayers on investment income, and triple dividend taxes, but notes that there are likely to be differences between what the president proposes and what ultimately gets through Congress. For instance, the proposal to treat dividends as ordinary income has met resistance in a Senate bill passed that would call to raise such rate to just 20% on higher-income taxpayers, well short of the

Corporate taxes are another battleground for Obama and Romney. The President has said that the fat profits of oil giants like Exxon Mobil and Chevron warrant the elimination of subsidies for such companies, and would attempt to lower the overall corporate rate by eliminating many deductions. Romney would seek to drop the corporate rate and cease taxing corporations on income earned overseas, which some argue would eliminate the quandary posed by foreign profits being locked up abroad.”
Capital is the engine of this economy and that is mostly money invested by small investors like the little old lady down the street depending on dividends for retirement income.
Raising taxes cripples the economy, as any lucid person has noticed and kills job growth.

Hi, all. If you haven seen the movie, 2016, by all means do. It is really on a high level. It is matter of fact, detached and simply goes by the available information. In one way it provides a way for Obama’s defeat with dignity–accepting that post-colonial Marxist ideas don’t work and time for him to step down. It gives the largest possible benefit of the doubt to good intentions that simply don’t work.
The problem is, the extreme Left lacks maturity as well as common sense. So, seeing the inevitable defeat at the voting booth, the disruptions as possibly planned may become a reality. There could be blood in the streets. And a national crisis provoked in some manner.
The film, however, pulls no punches and is a real eye opener. It even gives one a certain amount sympathy for Obama in exposing his wrong-headed views. He is, afterall, a human being. It brings him down to size and instead of seeing him as a larger-than-life celebrity that must be feared and opposed, he is portrafyed as a fellow American of mixed background who was seduced by post-colonialism Marxist ideology.

As you know me, I am not the kind of person that can watch and pray. One of the many great warriors (which I named one of my children after) was Joshua. As Joshua believed, don’t ever be afraid or discouraged, be brave.
Joshua neither deviated nor wavered in battles, Jericho being the most well known. Unfortunately, we have not a single leader in Congress willing to step up to any issue, little lone a battle. Prayer alone, is never enough (in my opinion) as it also takes action of great leaders [or individuals] through such prayers to enact a plan and move forward.

(minus the graphics for views) Dan Quayle shooting himself in the mouth, with the bullet entering and exiting from one side to the other. This was during the attempted second term of Bush Sr.

I hear you when it comes to “action”. There is a time for that and there is also a time for “watch and pray”, no offense intended. That is what Jesus told his disciples on the eve of His crucifixion. He found them sleeping when he returned to them after praying alone in the garden of Gethsemane. Again, He told His disciples previously to “Take heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.” (Mark 13:33) “Watching” does not mean a passive activity but rather “being alert and discerning”.

We Agee on principle and substance about the economic woes that have been evolving from the liberal idiology. Strickly speaking, the economic health of the united states best correlates to energy consumption, as does quality of life for Americans. This basic premise holds true for virtually all industrialized countries. Obama, and the watermelons (green on the outside and red in the middle) have been exploring a no energy policy for the US. Specifically the are anti coal, natural gas, domestic oil, and nuclear, which accounts for likely 90%+ of US energy domestic consumption. This is a formula for economic failure alone. Thus, no energy means no economic health.
I find quite interesting that most left wing nuts propose cutting fossil fuels to diminish carbon dioxide emissions, which they blame for global warming. Therefore, you would believe that a environmentally conscious patriotic POTUS would be against fossil fuels worldwide, but be for increasing US energy production. Obama has been against US energy in all reliable forms, but has been pro oil production in other counties and silent on China’s use of coal. He even used stimulus money to fund Soros drilling in Brazil for oil, and to Russia he gave away US territory for Russian drilling! Indeed, the plan has not been to decrease worldwide carbon dioxide production, but just to curtail US energy availability.
If actions speak louder than words, then Obama’s actions are clearly about harming American economy and destroying domestic quality of life, not about environment or global warming protection. That defines his time in office and should be a clear warning to both political parties about why the should vote for Romney.

“The sickest irony amidst the euphoria of the inauguration of America’s first black President is that one of Obama’s very first actions in office will be to ensure that millions more black babies are aborted in third world countries, with American taxpayers picking up the tab.
Obama’s first act of “change” will be to issue an executive order that will lift a ban on using taxpayer money to fund international “family planning” groups who counsel women and perform abortions around the world, but mainly in Africa.
Fresh from his complete disregard of Israel’s barbarian bombardment of Gaza, an onslaught that has killed around 400 children, Obama will ensure that potentially millions more never even get the chance of life in the first place.
Obama will reverse the so-called Mexico City policy, the federal rule prohibiting aid to family planning groups which was instituted by Ronald Reagan in 1984. The policy does not apply to abortions carried out in cases of rape, incest, or life-threatening conditions. Obama’s executive order will pass almost exactly 36 years to the day since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion.
Abortion groups that will enjoy a fresh injection of American taxpayers’ money will include the Family Guidance Association of Ethiopia and the Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia.
The executive order will also precede a likely decison by Obama to once again release funds for the UNFPA, a United Nations organization that supports China’s policy of forced abortion. <====
“Obama’s repeal of the abortion aid policy is one of several executive actions that he will take soon after his inauguration today, according to several Obama transition aides. He is also considering lifting Bush administration restrictions on federally funded stem cell research,” reports the Hartford Courant.
Stem cell research has attracted vociferous opposition from anti-abortion groups because many of the treatments in the field use cells from aborted babies. The Catholic Church in Scotland this week called the procedure “immoral and unethical,” especially in light of the fact that stem cells from adult donations can be used instead.
Federally funded global abortions as a method of population control has been an obsession of elites and eugenicists throughout history."

“One of the pioneers of family planning and the woman who opened the first birth control clinic in Britain, Marie Stopes, was a racist and an anti-Semite who campaigned for selective breeding to achieve racial purity, a passion she shared with Adolf Hitler in adoring letters and poems that she sent the leader of the Third Reich.
The feminist also attended the Nazi congress on population science in Berlin in 1935, while calling for the “compulsory sterilisation of the diseased, drunkards, or simply those of bad character.” Stopes acted on her appalling theories by concentrating her abortion clinics in poor areas so as to reduce the birth rate of the lower classes.
Stopes left most of her estate to the Eugenics Society, an organization that shared her passion for racial purity and still exists today under the new name The Galton Institute. The society has included members such as Charles Galton Darwin (grandson of the evolutionist) , Julian Huxley and Margaret Sanger.
Ominously, The Galton Institute website promotes its support and funding initiative for “the practical delivery of family planning facilities, especially in developing countries.” In other words, the same organization that once advocated sterilizing black people to achieve racial purity in the same vein as the Nazis is now bankrolling abortions of black babies in the third world.
With Obama’s [illegal] executive order to release taxpayer money to fund abortions of black babies in Africa, he is signaling his firm intention to act in the interests of the ancestors of the Hitlerian eugenicist movement who now control the family planning groups.
A lot has been made of the ideals of Martin Luther King in light of the inauguration of the first black President. What would the legendary civil rights campaigner have thought of Obama’s action to ensure funding for the abortion of black babies? Here’s what his niece, Dr. Alveda King had to say about the matter at a conference last August.
“The great irony,” she said, “is that abortion has done what the Klan only dreamed of.”
King stated that the killing of a quarter of the black population of the US has not been from the lynch mobs of her childhood days, but from abortionists, “who plant their killing centers in minority neighborhoods and prey upon women who think they have no hope.”

The GAO report also reveals that a key Obama official stonewalled investigators and refused to cooperate with the GAO in its investigation of the activities initiated by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Department during the 2010 constitutional referendum in Kenya. “The Obama Administration basically hired surrogates to do its dirty work of abortion promotion in Kenya,” said Congressman Chris Smith, a New Jersey Republican who is the chairman of the House Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights. “U.S. policy on international constitutional reform is, by law, supposed to be abortion-neutral” Smith said. “This new report shows that at a minimum the Obama Administration ignored the prohibition with the end result being a new Kenyan constitution that vastly expands access to abortion in Kenya, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer.”
A prior USAID report indicates the Obama administration spent $61.2 million related to the vote on the Kenya constitution, with $12.6 million going to efforts to directly promote the pro-abortion constitution.

The GAO indicates that the IDLO provided advice “on the issues of fetal rights and abortion, though the draft had not mentioned either issue at this point. Specifically, the IDLO report advised that the COE might consider adding language to make clear that the fetus lacks constitutional standing, and that the rights of women under these articles therefore take priority. IDLO also provided examples of countries whose courts have held that fetal rights to life serve as a partial barrier to the ability of national legislatures to protect… the legal right of access to abortion.”
In its report, GAO also quoted IDLO as advising the Kenyans that “[I]n the coming years, the Kenyan Parliament may wish to take such measures. One way to handle this would be to modify [the constitution] to make clear that a person is a human being who has been born.”
“The IDLO communications to the Kenyans introduced the abortion issue into the constitutional debate, ‘advised’ the Kenyans to include language in the constitution that clearly supported the legalization of abortion, and expressed opposition to later proposed language that would have restricted access to abortion,” Smith explained. “If this isn’t lobbying, what is?”

“With regard to the stonewalling by the Obama Administration official, Smith said “It actually comes as little surprise that Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs, Maria Otero, ignored repeated requests from the GAO to question her regarding her activities in Kenya.”
GAO informed Smith’s office that Otero failed to respond to multiple requests for meetings.
Otero, whose portfolio includes population issues, traveled to Kenya from November 29 to December 2, 2010 in her official capacity, and met with Prime Minister Odinga, senior government officials and civil society representatives. She previously traveled in Kenya with Ms. Phoebe Asyio, a commissioner on the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission and chair of the Kenyan Caucus for Women’s Leadership (CWL), who advocated for and later lauded the legalization of abortion in Kenya as a result of the new constitution.
“In light of the law, Otero’s activities raise serious questions that she apparently did not want to answer,” Smith said.
Political reform in Kenya was – and continues to be – an extremely important undertaking in light of the 2007 violence that claimed approximately 1, 300 lives and displaced tens of thousands more in that country.
“There are justifiable concerns that the deadly upheaval could be repeated with the elections in 2012 unless dramatic reforms are in place,” Smith noted. “However, this needed reform should not be used by pro-abortion groups funded by the Obama Administration to rewrite the pro-life laws of Kenya.”
Smith noted that even after its clear violation of the lobbying prohibition, the IDLO continues to receive U.S. funding to play a central role in the drafting of laws implementing the new constitution.
“As the GAO points out, it is likely that several other countries will be amending or creating new constitutions in the foreseeable future, and this U.S. tax-payer funded effort to change Kenya’s pro-life laws raises red flags as to how U.S. monies may be used to impose legalized abortion on other countries through their constitutions,” Smith added. “Congress has determined that U.S. funding should not be used to lobby for or against abortion in other countries. That prohibition can easily be adhered to by any Administration that is committed to obeying the law.”

“Abortion takes the life of innocent human beings, who are the most vulnerable in our society. Abortion is today the most frequently performed medical procedure in the United States. American physicians perform about two abortions every minute of every hour of every day: about 1 million a year since 1973. In my home state of New Jersey, abortion is permitted up to the moment of birth, and the state will even pay for it if the mother meets certain financial criteria.
How low have we sunk? What are the consequences of this mass slaughter? How did we get here?
We got here because of the most reprehensible and unconstitutional Supreme Court opinion in the modern era. In a throwback to its infamous Dred Scott decision – in which a pre-Civil War Supreme Court declared that blacks are not persons and, hence, cannot claim the protections of the Constitution – the court essentially said in Roe vs. Wade the same of fetuses in the womb.
Roe vs. Wade has spawned more slaughter than all 20th-century tyrants combined. The consequences of this slaughter are vast lost generations of human beings who were denied by the law the right to live. The economic consequences from which we all suffer today – entitlements too costly to afford and too few wage earners to pay for them – are directly attributable to the absence of population growth.
I am not arguing in favor of entitlements. The Constitution does not authorize the federal government to provide them. But when FDR and LBJ concocted their entitlement schemes in order to build permanent dependence on the Democratic Party, they understood population growth. Their understanding, too, was slaughtered by abortion. A society that prefers death to life not only cannot prosper; it cannot survive. Soon 40 percent of federal tax revenues will be dedicated to interest on the federal debt, and most of that borrowing has been to pay for entitlements. We are headed for a cliff.

So are the babies in the womb. But isn’t the baby in a womb a person? Of course the baby in a womb is a person. The baby is produced by the physical interaction of two human parents, and every unborn baby possesses a fully actualizable human genome: all the material necessary to grow to adulthood and to exist independently outside the womb.
What about rape? Rape is among the more horrific violations of human dignity imaginable. But it is a crime committed by the male, not the female – and certainly not by the child it might produce. When rape results in pregnancy, the baby has the same right to life as any child born by mutually loving parents. Only the Nazis would punish a child for the crimes of his or her father.”

“Today, the Congressional Budget Office released a report showing the federal government has posted a $1.1 trillion deficit for the fourth year in a row.
For fiscal year 2012 (which ends on September 30), the federal budget deficit will total $1.1 trillion, CBO estimates, marking the fourth year in a row with a deficit of more than $1 trillion. That projection is down slightly from the $1.2 trillion deficit that CBO projected in March. At 7.3 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), this year’s deficit will be three-quarters as large as the deficit in 2009 when measured relative to the size of the economy. Federal debt held by the public will reach 73 percent of GDP by the end of this fiscal year—the highest level since 1950 and about twice the share that it measured at the end of 2007, before the financial crisis and recent recession.
Obama has increased the national debt by 50 percent since he took office. Remember, he claimed he would cut the deficit in half during his first term.

An alliance of more than 60 labor, peace, student, immigrant rights, gay and lesbian and other groups says it’s ready for a 5,000-person march on the first day of the Republican National Convention.
“There will be nothing that will stop us from marching in the streets to demand good jobs, health care, affordable education, equality and peace and to oppose the party of legitimate rape,” said Corey Uhl of the local chapter of Students for a Democratic Society.
………..Protesters are expected to come on buses from as far away as New York, Minnesota, Illinois and the state of Washington, organizers say. The crowd could include more than 700 college students. A member of Occupy Wall Street is expected to arrive with three busloads of demonstrators.
I keep wondering how accurate any of these polls can be? Anytime I receive a phone call from a number I don’t know – I don’t answer it. I would bet a lot of older folks don’t either. Then there’s the whole landline vs. cell phone issue. The people who might answer are the ones with a strong opinion chomping at the bit to help their candidate. The only poll that matters is on Nov. 6th.

“Obama’s Department of Justice is demanding a federal judge dismiss the injunction with which she sought to uphold the constitutional rights of the American people.
On May 16th, federal judge Kathleen Forrest granted a preliminary injunction to plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed against Barack Obama and the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 (NDAA), striking down those sections of the Act that provide the president the power to indefinitely detain American citizens without benefit of their 5th and 6th Amendment rights.
===> Under the terms of the Act, Obama had been given exclusive authority to direct members of the US military to arrest and imprison anyone he believed to have “substantially supported” al Qaeda, the Taliban, or “associated forces.” When pressed by plaintiff’s attorneys about the practical extent of this authority, government lawyers admitted “…the NDAA does give the president the power to lock up people like journalist Chris Hedges and peaceful activists,” admitting that “…even war correspondents could be locked up indefinitely under the NDAA.” And when asked by the judge what it meant to be an “associated force”, Obama’s lawyers “…claimed the right to refrain from offering any clear definition of [the] term, or clear boundaries of the president’s power under [the] law.” Obama made it clear his Administration would ignore the court and its injunction regardless of what the judge may decide, claiming incorrectly that “…[the] injunction would have ‘nil’ effect, for the government would continue to possess the identical detention authority under the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force…” Of course, that is a lie, as the AUMF applies only to known members of al Qaeda or the Taliban. Most indicative of the Obama Administration’s contempt for Judge Forrest, the law, and the American people was government attorney Benjamin Torrance’s claim that it was “the Obama Administration’s position” NDAA detention provisions do not apply to American citizens living in the US. <===
Judge Forrest responded by quoting Chief Justice Roberts, who wrote in a 2010 case that the Supreme Court “…would not uphold an unconstitutional statute merely because the government promised to use it reasonably.”
So much for Judge Forrest’s faith in the validity and value of Obama’s signing statement promise to not employ his Section 1021 authority to indefinitely detain the American public!
Yet incredibly, when pressed on the issue, this Obama mouthpiece suggested to Forrest that concerns about the president’s detention powers were excessive as American citizens would, after all, have the ability to file a writ of habeas corpus should they be illegally or improperly jailed! “How long does [such a] petition take,” asked Forrest? When Torrance refused to answer, the Judge continued, “Several years, right”?
So not only did Obama’s attorney lie about his Marxist boss’s corrupt intentions; he actually claimed that the abuse of American citizens was somehow acceptable because those unconstitutionally imprisoned might ask that the charges against them be produced after ONLY a few years behind bars!
Judge Forrest will soon decide whether to make the injunction permanent. Every citizen must watch very carefully for that ruling, as the “mainstream” media has ignored the story completely. We must all hope the Judge will not be intimidated by this corrupt Regime as so many of her colleagues have been before her."

Thank you for posting the sobering article by Judge Napolitano. Having been an active pro-lifer since 1973, I never cease to get hit in the pit of my stomach when reading such an expose`, because it is all SO TRUE.
If the killing of 50 to 60 million babies in America grieves us, can we even begin to imagine how much it grieves God, the giver of life? God will judge America for this holocaust, and I fear that the judgment has already begun. Furthermore, the Democrats are the party of death and have been for some time. Unless we repent and turn from our wicked ways………..

The issue of what to do with babies who inconveniently survived the abortionist’s killing skill was raised in Illinois while Barack Obama was a state senator there.
Jill Stanek, a nurse in a Chicago hospital performing abortions, brought the issue to the forefront after she held a dying-infant survivor for the hour it took the little one to die. Standard procedure had called for the baby to be placed in a soiled utility closet with the other medical waste, but Stanek couldn’t stand this, so she cradled the infant in her arms instead.
Afterward, she set out to determine how on earth throwing babies out with the trash had become a “standard procedure” in this One Nation under God.
Obama’s votes were in keeping with his pastor, Jeremiah Wright.
During the years when the infanticide controversy was roiling in Chicago, due to the heroic efforts of Nurse Jill Stanek, Jeremiah Wright had just completed his tenure on Christ Hospital’s board of directors. In fact, a number of folks with close ties to Trinity were receiving their paychecks from the hospital owned and operated by the church’s parent denomination, United Churches of Christ.
A more bitter blasphemy, I simply cannot imagine. Talk about using the Lord’s name in the propagation of evil.

•From 1986 to 1989, Wright served on the board of directors of Evangelical Health Systems, Christ Hospital’s parent company. In 1995, EHS merged to create Advocate Health Care, controlled jointly by the United Church of Christ and Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, both pro-abortion.
•TUCC is a member of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
•In 1999, I discovered babies were being aborted alive at Christ Hospital. I testified before a Congressional committee in 2000 and 2001. I was fired in 2001. Obama opposed IL’s Born Alive Infant Protection Act in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
•Christ Hospital’s CEO throughout that time, Carole Schneider, as a UCC member.
•One prominent Advocate board member then and now is Rev. Dr. Ozzie Smith, Jr., a former associate pastor at TUCC under Wright.

“It seems to me first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that didn’t work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist, and not attacking the child.”
Akin appears to have based his assertions on someone’s ill-advised medical opinion. Right or wrong, the detractors zeroed in on the misstated words “legitimate rape” whereas he likely meant to say “If it’s rape and not consensual sex…..” They chose to ignore his answer to Charles Jaco’s question when he expressed his faith influenced belief that the innocent child should be allowed to live and the rapist should be punished. Akin’s comments were badly stated but hardly worth the death penalty. The Republican party was way to quick to kill their own young. Instead of treating the wound they shot the patient.
Meanwhile, we have a President who has injected the government into the bedroom and every woman’s sex life by mandating all businesses offer employees insurance coverage that must include sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs and contraception. Making the laws is the responsibility of the Congress, not the President. By what authority does Obama make such a mandate?
What is more egregious, Akin’s badly stated comment or Obama’s un-Constitutional mandate?

Immigration agents sue to stop Obama’s non-deportation policy
The 10 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and deportation officers said Mr. Obama’s policies force them to choose between enforcing the law and being reprimanded by superiors, or listening to superiors and violating their own oaths of office and a 1996 law that requires them to put those who entered the country illegally into deportation proceedings.
Upping the ante, the agents are being represented by a high-profile lawyer, Kris W. Kobach, secretary of state in Kansas and the chief promoter of state immigration crackdowns such as Arizona’s tough law.
“ICE is at a point now where agents are being told to break federal law, they’re pretty much told that any illegal alien under age of 31 is going to be let go. You can imagine, these law enforcement officers are being put in a horrible position,” Mr. Kobach said.

Now is the time for courage
Want to know why the Republican Party is in such trouble? I believe it comes down to one word: courage.
When Democrats misspeak, we make them vice president. When Republicans misspeak, Republicans are the first in line to throw them under the bus.
When Rep. Todd Akin stood for protecting all innocent human life in a recent interview, he used a word with more than one meaning. He used the word “legitimate” before the word “rape” to mean “real,” “forcible,” a tragic event that “really took place.” Anyone who doesn’t think false claims of rape can be made should check with Norma McCorvey, the “Roe” of Roe v. Wade. The infamous abortion case, based on her false rape claim, has resulted in the deaths of 55 million innocent human lives.
But because “legitimate” could also modify the word rape, some in the Republican Party are practically writing Willie Horton ads about it, pretending that the congressman is “pro-rape” and wants to let rapists out on furlough. This “interpretation” of the congressman’s words doesn’t resemble reality, and everyone knows it.
If Republicans love their country, they will quit using fiction to shoot their own and focus on the real enemies of life: Democrats Claire McCaskill and Barack Obama, who stand for legally sucking the brains out of half-born babies in a procedure called partial-birth abortion.
In America, we shouldn’t kill people for the crimes of their father. And in politics, we shouldn’t kill statesmen for a badly worded sound bite.
Thankfully, there are men and women of courage who stand with Rep. Akin, beginning with the founder of National and International Right to Life, Dr. Jack Willke, who said:
“Congressman Todd Akin remains a strong and courageous pro-life leader – and awkward wording in one sound-bite doesn’t negate that. Of course, Congressman Akin never used the word ‘legitimate’ to refer to the rapist. … It’s time for Republican leaders to rise to the level of Rep. Todd Akin’s principle and courage and stand with him and the Republican platform that stands for the protection of every human life.”
Dr. Ted Baehr of Movieguide added:
“The attacks on Rep. Todd Akin are vicious, bigoted and insensitive. This is media and left-wing bullying at its worst. Todd is one of the few really good men in the United States. Every decent person, everyone of faith and values, every American should support him and stand up to the progressive, leftist, Democratic, media bullies.”
I agree with Dr. Baehr – even when those bullies call themselves “Republican.”
Tim Wildmon is president of the American Family Association – with more members than the circulations of the New York Times and Wall Street Journal – combined. Here’s what he had to say:
“Fair-minded people understand that Congressmen Akin is not ‘pro-rape.’ That is absolutely ridiculous and everyone knows it. … I’m a little stunned at the piling on against Rep. Akin over what clearly is a simple misuse of the English language. The way he is being treated by some GOP leaders and colleagues is just wrong. This is a decent, honorable man who has been pro-life and pro-traditional values. He has apologized for his choice of words and that should be the end of it.”
Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, added his voice:
“… Congressman Akin – an unsung hero on Capitol Hill, who with courage and conviction, has stood for life and liberty, and he is a man who quickly apologizes for his faults. I’m proud to stand with, and fight for, the hero we know as Congressman Akin, to become the next senator from Missouri.”
Dr. Jim Garlow of Renewing American Leadership said:
“No doubt about it. Congressman Akin misspoke. We all do. … And he immediately did what we all have to do when we misspeak. He apologized. And well he should. But here is my question: Will the people who got understandably upset regarding his misstatement (repeating: for which he apologized) get equally upset over the fact that babies are being torn to shreds in the womb? Rape is a horrible, violent act. We all agree. Killing a baby in the womb is, too. Why am I hearing silence on that issue?”
Rachelle Heidlebaugh of Witness Abortion Recovery put it this way: “As a woman who has had an abortion following being raped, I stand with Rep. Todd Akin for the protection of every child in the womb. A violent act did not justify a second violent act upon my innocent child. I mourn the loss of my baby every single day, a child who would be 15 today had I not bought the lie that abortion was ‘the solution’ for my rape.”
Mat Staver, dean of Liberty School of Law and founder of Liberty Counsel, added:
“Congressman Todd Akin is a man of integrity who loves God, loves America, and has been a bright star in Congress and will even shine brighter as the next U.S. senator. … Todd Akin is what is right with America and those calling for him to step down represent the failed policies and bankrupt views that most American want to see changed.”
Bott Radio founder Dick Bott said, “With Bott Radio Network’s (BRN) headquarters in Missouri for 50 years, I have known Todd Akin and his family since he first entered Missouri politics. … He has always been an example of what I wish every political leader would be. In short ‘he is the real deal.’ In fact, he’s one of my heroes.”
Finally, I agree with Chris Brown, president of the Missouri Republican Assembly, who said:
“… The Republican leadership needs to grow a spine. … While Todd may have been indiscreet in his word choice, he was not wrong in his facts. … If we are unable to stand strong for our values it will be the Republican leadership that allows American exceptionalism to become a footnote in history.”
If you want leaders to courageously stand for life in the U.S. Senate, courageously stand for Rep. Todd Akin now. He must run, and he must win.

I don’t blame Akin for holding that life begins at conception – and holding that belief as a starting point there – it would be completely reasonable for that person not to allow exceptions for rape and incest.
However, Akin must have been aware that the Democrats crossed over to vote for him in the primary. It was just stupid to not be aware that he needed to be VERY careful with his words. Now, it’s not even about abortion – it about legitimate vs. illegitimate rapes.
Now, it looks like he is simply digging his heels in and raising money even though it looks like he will lose. It seems very selfish to many. I would vote for him if he stays in. However, I do believe he is damaging the entire ticket’s chances. The Economy or Oconomy needed to be the issue.
To take on abortion – Romney needs to be willing to get real graphic with Obama’s support for infanticide! I don’t think he will do that. It just PO’s a lot a people that Akin opened a door to a fight that should have been had later. If Romney loses because of this, Obama will appoint how many pro infanticide Supreme Court justices?
Akin seems like a good man but….. The Indian Princess in Mass. is already using Akin’s words against Brown without ever mentioning Brown’s name.
