Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 163,000 in July, and the unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 8.3 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment rose in professional and business services, food services and drinking places, and manufacturing.

Both the number of unemployed persons (12.8 million) and the unemployment rate (8.3 percent) were essentially unchanged in July. Both measures have shown little movement thus far in 2012. (See table A-1.)
Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rate for Hispanics (10.3 percent) edged down in July, while the rates for adult men (7.7 percent), adult women (7.5 percent), teenagers (23.8 percent), whites (7.4 percent), and blacks (14.1 percent) showed little or no change. The jobless rate for Asians was 6.2 percent in July (not seasonally adjusted), little changed from a year earlier. (See tables A-1, A-2, and A-3.)
In July, the number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks and over) was little changed at 5.2 million. These individuals accounted for 40.7 percent of the unemployed. (See table A-12.)

The white unemployment rate remained at 7.4 percent. The Black, Hispanic and Asian dropped by a combined 1.1 percent. They must be using new or fuzzy math or perhaps the numbers have been rectified as in “1984.”
Perhaps part of the reason is the drop in the Labor Force Participation Rate which is .3 percent lower than a year ago.

When we started reading the LA Times article reporting that “the federal government has quietly been completing an audit of U.S. gold stored at the New York Fed” we couldn’t help but wonder when the gotcha moment would appear. It was about 15 paragraphs in that we stumbled upon what we were waiting for: “The process involved about half a dozen employees of the Mint, the Treasury inspector general’s office and the New York Fed.
It was monitored by employees of the Government Accountability Office, Congress’ investigative arm.” In other words the Fed’s gold is being audited…by the Treasury. Just below the media radar the Obama war on the coal industry is sure to change the nature of all of our lives within three or four years. We can expect utility rates to increase 3 or 4 times the level we pay today. Imagine what this will do to our quality and standard of living! The energy issue is already, and has been affecting a lot of hoosiers via their gasoline tanks, and electric bills, and natural gas bills. We are seeing tax upon tax, surcharges and other stuff that has never appeared in the past which already adds another 30% to our bills. It is really bull—-. Our electricity is being produced by the AEP nuclear facility in southwest Michigan. I have heard though that it has only a short time left in it’s service life, and could be closed in the not too distant future. I don’t know how true this is. If it is true then our power is going to have to come from a much greater distance. This is one reason why I have been in the process of building a 20 KW generator which will use LP gas for fuel. I would suspect that we would integrate oil lamp lighting with intermittent electrical power. This way we would organise our lifestyle so that whatever electrical needs we have we would coordinate all of it into perhaps a 6 hour operation of the generator out of every 24 hours. This would extend the fuel on hand. We would use dried wood for heating during the day. We already catch rainwater for the yard,etc. but it would be very simple to rig it for flushing toilets, and doing laundry. We presently have a 500 gallon capacity. I could easily double the capacity. At present there are no laws against retaining water in, cisterns,etc. To put a capacity of 3000gallons in the ground costs close to $15,000.00 at present. There arent many people around anymore who even have a savings account, so coming up with that much money would be really tough for anybody. If they owned their home outright they could take a mortgage on the house.
Any way you stack it up the utility costs are going to skyrocket, and I agree 100 % with what you say. I would be also considering about 20 solar panels, but they are really salty, unless you build them yourself. It can be done!

You mentioned the Stock Market on the previous page. Like you, I see some warning signs with the market closing higher despite the negative news of unemployment.
I am certainly not a stock market analyst, but I believe there are a few reasons this is happening as well. The first is that the IMF has been pressuring the U.S. to “Raise” its debt ceiling – again. Secondly, their is pressure to introduce QE3 and the Fed to print more money. Lastly, the Treasury is pressuring to introduce another round of “stimulus”.
In my opinion, this gives those in the market “confidence” of federal support whereby their investment risks are simply marginalized, hence the reason the market value is increasing rather than decreasing. I also believe they already have the inside information that these 3 key factors will indeed take place, thus securing them.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense.

Your analysis about the Stock Market reactions sounds very reasonable to me. I am certainly not a market analyst either, but would make this added
point. We have active stock market traders today that are very ignorant of the dangers of the infusion of more dollars into the economy.
Of course, the day-to-day traders are looking for quick bucks and are more interested in their own portfolios than the welfare of their country. Then you also have large blocks of securities that are managed by huge investment firms, etc. for IRA’s, 401k’s, etc. Those firms were at one time more conservative than they are today.
I have been surprised at how fast the market will recover after a downturn that seemingly comes about over bad economic reports. That didn’t used to be the case. Also, we have the likes of Soros, who control huge amounts of securities and can sway the market at will.
This hasn’t been verified by me, but it seems that always in the past a downturn in the economy would be reflected in the markets, which would fall also. We don’t see much of that today, and it is downright scary. It gives people a false sense of security.

I agree with you on all levels of your comments.
Personally, I have no problem with traders, whether they be long term or day-to-day. It is their risk and theirs alone. It is not something I would do, nor to I condemn them for it. It is a well known fact that over 80% of speculators in the market fail. That is their risk. When they do fail, the Federal Government has no problem taking their money via taxation. It is only the ones that succeed they seem to have a problem with. Not a business I would venture into. If you’re good at it, why not…
Secondly, It has been historically an economical proven fact, that the market recovers quickly during down turns, so long as their in NO governmental intervention. Even during the 20’s and 30’s, (reason it was dubbed the Roaring 20’s) quickly (less than 12 months) turned around with any federal intervention. It wasn’t until FDR (The New Deal) that the Federal Government intervened. Although our Foreign counterparts did nothing as far as Government intervention, they themselves quickly bounced back, same as always. Unfortunately, the U.S. alone intervened and by doing so, “extended” a recession by 10 years to recover, while our foreign counterparts recovered in less than 12 months.
It has never worked with Government intervention; rather it takes much longer to right the economic ship when they do.
In regard to Chick-Fil-A, I believe we saw a miracle on Tuesday. I like to think that God saw the millions of American people who stood in line for hours in the heat to exhibit their belief in Biblical principles. I hope and pray that God saw the faithful remnant and will not turn his back to us; that he will hear from heaven, forgive our sin and heal our land.

I do not agree at all, that simply because Romney chooses a Black V.P., then as a matter of educational switcharoo, Blacks will somehow come on board with the the Republican party. History has proven otherwise. In addition, that is called “Pandering” to voters.
Historically, even when the Republicans give-in to this “Pandering” notion, such as “Illegal Amnesty” as Bush did (and many before him including Regan) no margin changed worth the votes themselves. Pandering does not work. The Blacks see all Republican Blacks as “Traitors”, “Uncle Tom’s Slaves in the GOP”, “Mouth Pieces against our own race”, ect..
Pandering just to have West on the ticket because he is black is beyond historical ignorance, same with Hispanic pandering. It doesn’t work, nor has it ever.

As far as the “Young” Tennessee State Candidate Mark Clayton running on the Democrat ticket and they have abandoned him on principle, tells me that the young man is simply not aware of what the Democrats actually stand for. Choosing Allen West as VP is pandering? William, you sound like a Democrat because that’s an argument the left will use, without a doubt. Many of us believe that Allen West should have been the candidate for president. Congressman West proudly and humbly serves the constituents of Florida’s 22nd district. Before retiring as an Army Lieutenant Colonel, West served as a Field Artillery Officer in Operation Desert Storm and in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In my opinion, He is the only politician who recognizes the true enemies that we face. We see Allen West as a good man, the best man for the job, not just a black man. Allen West being black is an added advantage in this campaign against a black liberal, socialist. Sarah Palin likes West for VP so those of us who choose West are in good company.

Thank you and AMEN! Allen West is on the leftist’s ‘hit list’ so he’s doing something right and our Congress NEEDS more military representatives. Sadly, most in Congress right now are pantywaists, progressive Socialists, Communists, Marxists and/or anti-Americans (or all of the above). West can cite Muslim history with facts better than anyone I’ve ever heard (so far) and he does it with an ease that’s sooooo impressive and leaves nothing to dispute. Jonah, while you continuously make statements that reasons to have Allen West as a V.P candidate – based on his race, I again disagree. It is not I that appears to be biased, rather it is you. The Liberal Democrats/Socialists utilize the strategy of voting based on “race” as policy, which is what you are doing.
For example, you say, ” choosing Allen West” will take away from the Black Votes”, and “Black Pastors against” Obama, and on, and on. You are pandering. Pure and simple.

If you wish to state what Allen West is to bring to the table of his economical plans, international treaty layouts for the future, domestic transition between Private and Public sector benefits with taxation, amongst a host of other problems; then present it. The just vote for Allen West because he is Black and will take away from an Obama Black vote, just doesn’t get it; Again, that is pandering.
Present your case. Personally I think he is a loose cannon.
The same is true when it comes to Marco Rubio for those that say he should be V.P. because he is Latino and would take away from the Latino vote. No he isn’t and No he would not. History has proven otherwise. Now if there are those that wish to present their case of why he should be V.P. other than his “race”, then it certainly is worth discussing. With the exception that he is not a NBC.
