Blagojevich sentencing delayed, Judge James Zagel, William Cellini trial, Postponed until a further order of the court

Blagojevich sentencing delayed, Judge James Zagel, William Cellini trial, Postponed until a further order of the court

From the Chicago Tribune September 26, 2011.

“Federal judge delays Blagojevich sentencing”
“Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s sentencing next month on his sweeping corruption charges has been postponed, according to a court order Monday.

No new date has been set.

The Oct. 6 date has always been tentative, and the postponement is not surprising largely because  Blagojevich’s co-defendant, William Cellini, is scheduled to go on trial next Monday in the same courtroom.

U.S. District Judge James Zagel, who will preside over both Blagojevich’s sentencing and Cellini’s trial, said in a written order on Monday that the former governor’s sentencing has been postponed “until a further order of the court.””

  2. As long as Obama is in office…Blago will not go to jail.

How does it go: ‘if Blago don’t talk, Blago walks”.

This whole Chicago mobster situation is nothing but a sham and waste of time and money for the American people. Thanks Mr. Fitzpatrick!

  5. From the comments at PJ

“Using agency funds (taxpayers’ money) to buy the weapons to be transferred to the cartels means that the operation has, prima facie, violated U.S. Code Title 18, Part 1, chap. 96, section 1960-61, defining the use of federal funds to illegally obtain and/or transfer controlled substances and/or items to unauthorized third parties.”

To do this within the law (as in a drug transaction) requires a bench warrant from a state or federal court. The buying or selling has to be done in a controlled manner, the item(s) must never be out of law enforcement control (meaning they at least must be tracked), and they cannot cross state lines or national boundaries without proper notification of authorities on the “receiving end”.

“Fast & Furious” and “Gunwalker” have, on the face of it, violated all of the above provisions.

  6. It has been proven that over 200 citizens of Mexico have been murdered with weapons provided to the drug cartels by the government of America.

Mexico should go to the WORLD COURT and demand Barack Obama be arrested, put on trial and held accountable for the murder of her citizens.

Obama and his whole gang of criminals are a disgrace to all law abiding peoples of the world regardless of where there are from.

This is a prime example of what happens when the courts, politicians, and the media all “look the other way” and ignore the elephant in the room.

  7. F&F looks like the potentially most egregious scandal in memory. The implications are mind boggling. At least one LSM outlet has been covering it, CBS, which is encouraging. If this skunk doesn’t demand an independent special prosecutor I don’t know what does.

  8. “The Texas Miracle of Texas Gov. Rick Perry is little more than a Texas-sized myth.

That’s the upshot of reports across the political spectrum, Right to Left, that have evaluated Perry’s claims.

As Governor Romney chided Perry over giving in-state tuition to illegal immigrants, no one pointed out that before he was a candidate in 2008, Romney supported a “path to citizenship” for illegal immigrants.

No one reminded the audience how he hammered McCain in particular for holding the same position he once had held or how he demagogued Giuliani and Huckabee for being soft on illegal immigration.

“This could be extreme political repositioning, even for Romney,” stated the Boston Globe.

While Perry was chided for signing an Executive Order to mandate a vaccine for young girls to prevent HPV, which can lead to cervical cancer, no one mentioned the Romney-Care provision that covers abortion for fifty dollars. And no one reiterated that Perry admitted he was wrong to sign that order, while Romney stands by the healthcare plan he still boasts of, even as it bankrupts his state.

No one pointed out that Romney and his wife have been financial supporters of Planned Parenthood. And on the issue of gay marriage, no one pointed out it was Romney who forced Town Clerks to license same sex partners and change the wording on certificates from “husband” and “wife” to “Partner A” and “Partner B” BEFORE same sex marriage was even the law in Massachusetts

    • On gun control: Romney said in 2002, “We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts. I support them.” In 2007, he said, “I support the Second Amendment. I purchased a gun when I was a young man. I’ve been a hunter pretty much all my life.”

Sarah Palin’s family attorney John Tiemessen has written a letter to Maya Mavjee, the publisher of the Crown Publishing Group, a division of Random House, that Palin may sue her, the company, and the book’s author Joe McGinniss “for knowingly publishing false statements” in his book released last week, “The Rogue,” ABC News has learned.

The book was widely panned by critics for using unnamed sources to criticize Palin and her family. Tiemessen cites an email they have access to in which McGinniss writes that attorneys from Crown Publishing told him “nothing I can cite other than my own reporting rises above the level of tawdry gossip. The proof is always just around the corner, but that is a corner nobody has been able to turn” and that McGinniss “ran out of time” to sufficiently source the book.

Tiemessen writes in the letter that the email “clearly describes the fact that Mr. McGinniss researched and investigated many false and scurrilous allegations, and concluded that there was absolutely no evidence anywhere backing these allegations.”

Palin’s attorney writes that it is “malicious” for Crown to publish the book when it has proof McGinniss and Crown “were fully aware the statements in the book were false, intended to be false, and were intended to harm.”

“The final work that was published contains most of the stories that Mr. McGinniss complains were nothing more than ‘tawdry gossip’ that amounted to the wishful fantasies of disturbed individuals,” Tiemessen writes. “Since both your company, and the author, clearly knew the statements were false, admitted they had no basis in fact or reality, but decided to publish in order to harm Governor Palin’s family, you and Mr. McGinniss have defamed the Palins.”

Tiemessen ends the letter by warning the publishing house not to “delete emails or destroy records” that may be used in the suit.

It’s so insane. He clearly made those remarks about his opinion on what Todd Palin would do and that Palin’s political career was over. Now he wants her to run, which is fine by me ( the more, the merrier as it keeps the press confused on whom to smear), and acts like he never spent several days smearing Palin in one of his “Rain Man” chants.

He’s a fraud and on top of that not very bright (contrary to his narcissistic view of his mind).

  27. It seems to me that as long as Sarah Palin even exists the LIBERAL EXTREMISTS will use every smear tactic in the DEMOCRATIC PLAYBOOK against her. The liberals are so desparate that they feel as though they MUST continue to SHOVEL THEIR INVECTIVE MANURE against the tide. They will continue to do it even if she says she is not going to RUN. It appears to be more of a LIBERAL DEMO. HATE thing than anything else.

  29. Has anyone read Oreilly’s book about Abraham Lincoln? It is too bad that we do not have anyone in either party who has the STRENGTH of CHARACTER necessary to lead the US back. Abe at least had the strength of character to keep the Republic together. Now the US is once again seriously divided, nearly broke, and all the Soetoro crowd can think of is raising taxes against upper echelon business people.

  30. The net result of increased taxes on business people will produce another mass exodus of business from the US. Can’t help wonder if Slick Willy mentioned this to Soetoro while they were playing golf a couple of days ago.

  31. Do you suppose all the GOVERNMENTAL METHODOLOGY is coming from Bill Daley. Mayor Daley’s brother is Soetoro’s TOP ADVISER. LIKE DALEY IS AN EXPERT IN RUNNING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. He was NOTHING in Chicago. I am wondering where he gets his expertise in how to run the federal government.

  32. F(o)S. Do you really think that there is a single person on this blog who believes a single word that you say any more? Your mindless reposting of a quote that you have selectively edited and taken out of context is meant to get under must skin, which it no longer does. Also, I sincerely don’t believe that the good folks here think that I am the Hillary sycophant I am constantly being accused of being.

No, they remember that you just finished up days of smearing Sarah Palin. It is in black and white. Yet you deny that you did this and accuse others of doing the very actions that you yourself did.

It reminds me of that KGB agent interview when he discusses the brainwashing of society and that even if something is evident, right in front of their faces, the communist sympathizers will deny the truth.

I checked with some of the Immunology/Infectious Disease nurses I work with to ask if this year’s seasonal flu shot contains the H1N1 (garbage) vaccine, just as it did last year. They have so much of it left over (1/2 the population didn’t buy into the phony hype) that they’re sneaking it into the seasonal flu shots to get rid of it.

Yes, this year’s shot does again contain the H1N1 vaccine.

Please make an informed decision when deciding whether or not you want a flu shot this year.

(Let’s see if I again go into moderation).

  36. According to NEWSMAX, Zogby has Cain at 28% of Republican primary voters, Perry at 18% and Romney at 17% after the Florida straw poll.

What a turn of events!!!! This goes to show you that the pundits and the media ARE NOT in control of whom we choose to represent us against the socialist cabal. There is still a long way to go and many things can happen in three months, but it’s time to start dishing some cash Mr. Cain’s way so he can compete against the big money candidates.

Cain’s motives are pure and sincere. I’m not so sure about some of the other candidates. Furthermore, he is not afraid to speak his mind freely and he has the goods to back it up. He is a breath of fresh air.

  45. Interested Bystander

    Hey All,

What REALLY gets me about F (o) S reposting over and over again Paxson’s comment that is edited, (and the whole comment is a few words longer than what “he” is posting, go look for yourself folks) is that Paxson was commenting on how Hillary was pressuring Obama to do MORE in Libya, and F (o) S agreed.

Not only that, but when our pilot had to eject from his aircraft during a mission over Libya, and a rescue was being carried out, F (o) S accused those who were conducting the rescue mission of killing “innocent” civilians who were running out to where the pilot was, when in reality the rescuers were attempting to keep those villagers from interferring in their mission.

And don’t forget about “his” flip flop on Trump.

And after the second debate, F (o) S posted comment after comment about how Jeb Bush needed to enter the race because Perry was unelectable because he had some discomfort standing at the podium for a period of time.

And then, post after post about Palin (and if I could point out, almost 100% of these posts were from MSNBC, or some other UNreliable news organization), commenting about her PERSONAL life like it should be made public every time she and Todd had “words”. I’ve been married 28 years F (o) S, and if having words with my wife excluded me from running for President, I haven’t been eligible since 1983.

No…………….F (o) S ……………you can no longer just spew utter nonsense without being called out on it.

And to think the owner of this blog allows this “man” to pretty much run things here.

It’s sad to see a once GREAT place to come and “discuss” Obama’s eligibility become a laughing stock to anyone who visits.

Oh there’s still some GREAT links from folks, but it gets pretty monotonous having to continually scroll past the posts by the person who is LEAST reliable on this forum.

    Paxson,

My donation is in the mail as of this afternoon.

I’d like to thank you for opening my eyes about Cain.

I like what I hear, but I have a bad feeling that being the head of a Federal Reserve district office is going to come back on him unless he takes the lead and explains his postion BEFORE he is put on the defensive.

I can understand his being supportive of TARP, because ANYONE who lived through that month in October of 2008 knows that it was beaten into our heads that we needed to do “something”, and McCain even left the campaign trail to go back to Washington to address the problem (of course hind sight being 20/20, I wish I could take my support of TARP back).

But the explaination I have heard from Cain on the Fed issue is that “it’s better to know your enemy from the inside” kind of reply to questions about his position with the Federal Reserve.

But as you comment frequently, NO ONE is going to be everything you want them to be, and I like what Cain’s “selling”.

Thank you for introducing him to me.

Keep your head up FRIEND, everyone here knows who spews crap, and who comments useful information.

To all of you who thinks Washington is the center of all our troubles, I watched a football game last night on ESPN that taught it a lesson. It was The Washington Redskins and big rival Dallas Cowboys. It was a cliff hanger right to the last few seconds. Guess what? The Cowboys beat the Redskins 18 to 17 WITHOUT SCORING A TOUCHDOWN and put a halt to undefeated season! The game tied for first place in the history books for the most field goals ever kicked in a single professional game.
Tony Romo was the outstanding quarterback.
