You gotta like John Kass of the Chicago Tribune. He has been telling it like it is about Obama for years. And not just Obama, but all of Obama’s corruption buddies like Tony Rezko, Rod Blagojevich, William cellini, et al.

“Excited reporters rummaged desperately through more than 24,000 emails of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in the hopes of finding her saying something stupid.
So frantic were the New York Times and Washington Post that they went so far as to solicit readers to help them dig up the dirt on the conservative Palin.
It was what it was — a liberal media witch hunt. About the only thing they forgot to do was shriek, “Burn her! Burn her!”
Though I’m a conservative, the charismatic and optimistic Palin isn’t exactly my cup of tea. I preferred the charismatically challenged and much more pessimistic Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, who’s no longer running for president because his wife said so.
Isn’t it time we just abandon the pretense of objectivity in news-gathering when Palin is involved? The public surely picks up on the snarky tone in the coverage, that coiled seething media rage against Palin. But for what, exactly? Her fertility? Her femininity? Her pro-life views? Her ability to shoot and pray?
And I’ve also seen seasoned journalists get as wiggly as puppies when President Barack Obama comes around. Their faces glow. Some even leave wet spots on the carpet.
So I can’t imagine major news organizations asking readers to help their reporters dig up political dirt on Obama from his days as a Chicago politician. Yes, I know it’s not fashionable to say so, but Obama is a Chicago politician. All you’ve got to do is see his chief of staff, Billy Daley, crouching in the Oval Office like some gargoyle. But you wouldn’t know it from the national media.
So I ask you to imagine reading the following online:
“With all the records being released from Obama’s time as a state senator from Chicago — and all of his connections to the convicted influence peddler Tony Rezko — we need help.
“So we’re looking for some help from readers to analyze, contextualize and research it all right alongside our reporters over the next several days. … We’re limiting this to just 100 spots for people who will work collaboratively in small teams to surface the most important information from the emails. … If you need inspiration before getting started …”
Except for the stuff about Rezko and Obama, the language above is similar to last week’s Washington Post call for readers to join in the Palin Hunt. And the New York Times issued a similar invitation.
It’s almost impossible to imagine the media calling for an Obama hunt because the journalists are too much in love.
And, though Obama chided Hillary Clinton for not releasing her records during the last presidential campaign, he said he didn’t keep records of his own.
“I don’t have — I don’t maintain — a file of eight years of work in the state Senate because I didn’t have the resources available to maintain those kinds of records,” he said during a 2007 presidential campaign stop in Iowa.
Obama wasn’t sure where any cache of records might have gone, adding, “It could have been thrown out. I haven’t been in the state Senate now for quite some time.”
So there. And the Obama White House also won’t release other public information, like the minutes of the meetings in which Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel — Obama’s first chief of staff — sat on the board of Freddie Mac.”
“Let’s call it the Sarah Experiment.”
“She wrote, “we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”
Naturally, they’ll say, “God, is she stupid or what? Palin doesn’t even know her own country. She’s too stupid to be president.”
And then you tell them that the stupid, racist thing Palin said about Indians was not said by Palin.
It was said in 2006 by the man who’s now vice president, Joe Biden.
And the idiot who, during the last presidential campaign, talked about visiting all 57 states with one to go? That wasn’t Palin saying something stupid.
That was Obama.”

The only reason why Soetoro would say “I have been in 57 states”,is tatamount and all telling as to his general knowledge of the make up of the US. In which case I for one believe that he is NOT EVEN A LEGAL CITIZEN of the US. Most CHILDREN learn about the number of states in the Republic in the lower grades of school. Most learn that each star on the flag is representative of each state…….yet Soetoro was IGNORANT of this. This is ALL TELLING ABOUT HIM, and should be looked upon as a glaring indicator of the TRUTH.

The reason for “57 States” is a slip of tongue, like, “My Muslim faith.” There are 57 States in the OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference). That is where the 57 came from. Under the stress of campaigning, there are these “Freudian slips.” One inadvertently says what is truly on one’s mind. In this case, his Muslim faith and the 57 States of the OIC. That’s what is really important to him–his Muslim faith and the 57 States of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
He’s been sending messages to his true devotees since the beginning – both covertly and overtly (in his case he could care less if the normally covert signs are being yelled with a megaphone because the dim-witted media makes nothing of them). They know he’s softening up the belly for them to do their dirty work – “come on in”!
I believe he knew exactly what he was saying when stating the “57 states'” …such audacity…..(tongue in cheek)

“Obama is ineligible for the Presidency according to the natural born citizen clause of the Constitution. Congress knows that there is sufficient evidence of felonies to warrant an investigation.
Make no mistake about it. Congress has chosen cowardice and political expediency over honesty and the rule of law.
Congress knows that Barack Hussein Obama is ineligible for the Presidency according to the natural born citizen clause of the Constitution.
They know that there is sufficient evidence of felonies to warrant an investigation.
They will do nothing. They will continue the cover-up. They are afraid for their jobs because they are complicit in the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people.
Congress does not seem to understand that willful negligence to uphold the law will eventually lead to chaos.
They don’t care and we need to inform them more forcefully that we will not permit them to destroy our country.
Need an example of their subterfuge?
All you need to do is write a letter to any member of Congress questioning Obama’s eligibility or asking why his alleged felonies have not been investigated.
This week’s willful ignorance award goes to the ever-arrogant Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) from an email dated June 13, 2011:
“As a Senator representing Colorado, I want to speak very clearly on this issue. President Barack Obama is a ‘natural born’ citizen of America, and he is eligible to be our nation’s Commander in Chief.”
“The legality of his birth certificate has been verified by numerous federal agencies, third party investigative groups, national media outlets, and primary source documentation. The United States Department of State and the Hawaii Department of Health have both verified the legality of the
“Certification of Birth” document provided by President Obama. In addition, highly regarded
‘fact check’ websites such as factcheck.org, snopes.com, and politifact.com support the findings of the federal agencies through their own independent investigations.”
It is a shame that Bennet knows so little about the Constitution or the difference between “citizen” and “natural born citizen”.
Hawaii’s state health director, Chiyome Fukino, and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have not affirmed that Obama’s Certificate of Live Birth (birth certificate) is genuine.
There has never been any vetting or investigations of Obama’s eligibility by federal agencies. None of the third parties mentioned by Bennet are objective and non-partisan. It’s a sham.
In fact, there is far more evidence from independent third parties demonstrating that Obama’s Certificate of Live Birth, which he presented as his own during the April 27, 2011 press conference, is a forgery.
Honorable Mention in the category of Congressional willful ignorance goes to Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Tom Cole (R-OK) for the content of their constituent letters of January 21, 2011 and May 26, 2011, respectively.
“We determined, based on the information available at the time, that the evidence suggesting that the President was not a natural born citizen was not sufficient to overcome the evidence suggesting that he in fact was a natural born citizen: specifically, legal certification by Hawaiian authorities declaring that Mr. Obama was in fact born in Hawaii, coupled with corroborating birth announcements in the Hawaiian newspapers at the time of his birth.”
Hey Franks, it’s in his book and on his birth certificate. Based on his father’s Kenyan birth, Obama was never eligible to be President.
And newspaper clippings as evidence to be President? Seriously?
“As you know, on December 8, 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear a case filed by a New Jersey voter who questioned whether President Barack Obama was a ‘natural born’ American, a prerequisite for the White House. As the Supreme Court has considered and rejected this case, I consider the issue to be closed.”
Cole’s response is, quite literally, a “no-brainer”. Either Cole doesn’t have a brain or he thinks his constituents don’t.
Cole doesn’t seem to grasp the difference between a case being heard and dismissed, and a case not being heard and dismissed. There has yet to be an adjudication of the law and the facts concerning Obama’s credentials.
To be fair to our distinguished elected officials, the responses of the members of Congress were never meant to be accurate answers. They are cover stories intended to “blow off” constituents’ inquires.
I am not talking about a few rotten apples in the barrel. I am talking about Congress, as an institution, lying to the American people, disregarding the Constitution and flouting the rule of law.
Would Congress start to understand their dereliction of duty, if ordinary Americans began to emulate their behavior?

Congress must not be given any retirement pensions, at all, that are paid for by We The People. Period. Congress serves We The People, only by our consent. We The People did not consent to pay for their [Congress’] lavish lifetime retirement pensions, nor did We The People consent to pay for their pay raises whenever the corrupt Congress people decide they are due and want to receive pay raises!
ALL Congress people must not be allowed to have any more choices in their salaries, raises, benefits, pensions, and must only serve for limited term limits without becoming career politicians who become hopelessly corrupt. “President Obama has crossed the Rubicon. He now believes – and acts – as if he is above the law; the Constitution no longer applies to him. This is the real meaning behind the U.S. military intervention in Libya. Mr. Obama is abrogating the linchpin of our democracy: the rule of law.
He is violating the War Powers Act. Passed in 1973, the law clearly stipulates that the commander in chief can only deploy U.S. forces for 60 to 90 days without congressional approval. He must then receive authorization from Congress. If he does not, he is usurping legislative authority and expanding the prerogatives of the executive branch – concentrating power in his hands, especially the most important act of all: war. In short, by flagrantly transgressing the War Powers Act, Mr. Obama has sparked a constitutional crisis.
House Speaker John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican, is demanding that the Obama administration explain why it has passed the deadline without seeking or getting congressional approval for the Libyan campaign. The White House’s response: Get lost. The administration sent a report to lawmakers defending the NATO-led Libyan war. For Mr. Obama, the War Powers Act does not apply because U.S. forces apparently are not engaged in “sustained hostilities” with troops loyal to strongman Col. Moammar Gadhafi. Moreover, U.S. air and missile strikes are only being conducted in a “supporting” role. Hence, there is no need to have congressional buy-in.
This is postmodern humanitarian interventionism. According to the liberal apparatchiks in the White House, Mr. Obama can bypass Congress simply by redefining
“hostilities.”
War is no longer war. It is whatever Mr. Obama says it is – or isn’t. George Orwell warned that the perversion of language is the first step on the dark road to authoritarianism.
America has declared war on Col. Moammar Gadhafi. Mr. Obama, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister David Cameron have openly called for regime change. U.S. and NATO jets have pounded Tripoli, rained missiles upon Col. Gadhafi’s army positions and destroyed his air defenses. CIA agents are on the ground, helping to arm and train the Libyan rebels. Mr. Obama pledged in the war’s opening days that the campaign would be quick, limited and well-defined. Instead, the conflict drags on and the goals keep expanding. It has become another exercise in nation-building. The president has misled Congress and the country.
Moreover, the rebels – contrary to Mr. Obama’s spin – are not pro-democracy freedom fighters. Many of them are Muslim fundamentalists who seek to forge an Islamist Libya. Al Qaeda is in their ranks. Libyan jihadists who spent years in Iraq killing U.S. soldiers form the nucleus of the anti-Gadhafi movement. Hence, Washington is doing the unthinkable: empowering Islamic butchers whose hands are soaked in American blood.
Mr. Obama’s policy contravenes our national interest, is inept, immoral and illegal. This is why members of Congress are in open revolt. A bipartisan group of lawmakers led by Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, Ohio Democrat, and Rep. Walter B. Jones, North Carolina Republican, have filed a lawsuit demanding that the courts force Mr. Obama to end the intervention in Libya. They are right. It is time Congress reined in an out-of-control administration. There is a growing alliance between conservative constitutionalists and anti-war liberals.”

“WASHINGTON — Republicans and Democrats on Thursday derided President Barack Obama’s claim that U.S. air attacks against Libya do not constitute hostilities and demanded that the commander in chief seek congressional approval for the 3-month-old military operation.
In an escalating constitutional fight, House Speaker John Boehner threatened to withhold money for the mission, pitting a Congress eager to exercise its power of the purse against a dug-in White House. The Ohio Republican signaled that the House could take action as early as next week.
“The accumulated consequence of all this delay, confusion and obfuscation has been a wholesale revolt in Congress against the administration’s policy,” said Sen. John McCain, the top Republican on the Armed Services Committee who has backed Obama’s actions against Libya.
The administration, in a report it reluctantly gave to Congress on Wednesday, said that because the United States is in a supporting role in the NATO-led mission, American forces are not facing the hostilities that would require the president to seek such congressional consent under the War Powers Resolution.
The 1973 law prohibits the military from being involved in actions for more than 60 days without congressional authorization, plus a 30-day extension. The 60-day deadline passed last month with the White House saying it is in compliance with the law. The 90-day mark is Sunday.
In the meantime, Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi has maintained his grip on power, and the White House says if the mission continues until September, it will cost $1.1 billion.”

Today, I had an OMG moment….and I have been chomping at the bit all evening/night at work to tell you about it.!!
I honestly, don’t DARE tell you ALL the thoughts that have been running through my head…..Once that light bulb turns on for YOU too, you will SEE why..
So, I am going to try and lead you to it….I’m pretty sure that once I lead you to a certain point…you can figure it out from there. But, if the clueless are monitoring the blog….they won’t.
One thing I DO need to ask Dr. Kate to do though, is dumb yourself down…forget, for a minute, that you are a lawyer, forget the ideas of “Proper procedure” etc……I’m NOT a lawyer, and I am afraid you won’t get it, if you look at it from a “good lawyers” point of view. But, I think I need to get this point across to YOU, I see you as the best possible person to help..once you realize that we have been overlooking our OWN “elephant in the room”.
Please think of me as one of our Tea Party Freshman….one of the ones that are so new, that they haven’t yet learned that some things just CAN’T be done…so they do them.
A short lead in… I haven’t been reading any of my “usual blogs” lately because I got the crazy notion that perhaps I could reason with the people who frequent a Journalist’s blog from our local Liberal Rag, it didn’t appear that they were EVER going to get curious enough to come to the Tea Party..so, thought I would try to take our ideas to them. They are a small but nasty group who have so far managed to either..”bait” other Conservative posters enough to get them banned, or the Conservatives just throw up their hands in disgust and gave up. I was determined that I was going to be ” MS Cool Calm and Collected” who refused to be baited, and tried to reasonably present our point of view.
A few days ago, they presented as a subject……a Donald Trump video, with the subject being about how reasonable he sounds now that he has abandoned the “birther” talk.
So, I got started defending us “birthers” …… I went with all the usual stuff, it’s not about where he was born, but the fact that he was dual citizen, …of COURSE, they couldn’t understand that…and I got the usual replies to that…..I told them about the Court cases, and that none of them were dismissed because they looked at any evidence and declared Obama eligible, but because the Court said we couldn’t establish
“standing”, and explained THAT to them…went to the Military cases, and how every one of them……orders were rescinded rather than have Obama be forthcoming with his BC..which made us even MORE suspicious…..then I told them about Terry Lakin…..the ULTIMATE travesty and betrayal, and how furious we are with THAT situation. I am sure I don’t need to tell you all of the lunatic accusatory responses I got to all THAT..I’m SURE you already know. I even tried to jolt them awake, by mentioning that they played right into Donald Trump’s hands…..that NOW the Obama team has released a BC that looks a lot like it’s been forged….and that a lawsuit had already been filed. They could sit in their little dream world hiding their heads of they WANTED to, but they should be aware that there could be a downfall on the way, they should be prepared.
Now, I have a confession to make, I had reached the point where I had pretty much given up on anything ever actually being done about this….and that perhaps that was best..due to the length of time that he has gotten away with it already, and all the troops he has sent to battle, and all the allies he has pissed off…….perhaps it’s best that we never confirm that he has been doing all this illegally, that we should just accept the phoney BC that he put out there, stop trying to jump through hoops and concentrate our efforts getting him out of office another way…all of this was just becoming a distraction that wasn’t accomplishing anything and it was beginning to look like it never would…..I was throwing in the towel and giving up, and I sort of expressed that to them in posts previous to the one I am going to copy and send here. I also had mentioned something about how arrogant Obama appeared by using “his privacy” as an excuse to not reveal records, if he didn’t want to reveal these things…..He’s the President!!! IF he didn’t want to reveal these things, he shouldn’t have applied for the JOB!!!..and we were letting him get away with not even providing as much personal information as any ordinary citizen would have to provide to clean toilets at the airport…and he arrogantly stands up there as if to say…I don’t need to prove ANYTHING to you PEONS…….trying to make them think that they perhaps shouldn’t be so smug in thinking he was going to sail into reelection…most of us aren’t THAT in love with him..
The post that I sent them today (yesterday now) was my final effort to just streamline the WHOLE birther argument in such a way that they would have to admit that they could not argue with my logic, and they would at LEAST have to concede that much……ha ha…you KNOW that didn’t happen….but here is the post:
Good Morning…not much time or energy this morning BUT…one more comment on the BC issue, then I’ll gladly go to “change of subject.”
This is the thing that made me get disgusted with Glenn Beck and whoever ELSE promoted this idea that because of the ads in the newspaper, Glen Beck thought we should all just fold our arms and go home. Thinking that any of us who still question must believe that his Grandparents, and newspapers all “conspired” in 1961 to make him eligible to be Pres. What a CROCK, Glenn!! Who’s getting in to “Conspiracy thinking” NOW??
Thinking on the surface, (Which is sometimes a GOOD thing) and without digging too deeply into the conspiracy idea and the motives of his Grandparents…what makes the fact that perhaps his Grandparents and his Mother wanted to make him an AMERICAN citizen, rather than a Kenyan one, (if he was born there), means they had some great conspiracy to have him grow up to be President?? They probably just wanted Baby Barack to be an American citizen….and in Hawaii, they could do that, even if he wasn’t born there.
They could take baby Barack to the Health Department, register his birth, say he was born at home by a midwife..use THEIR Hawian Residency to get him a COLB, the Health Dept then generated the records that ended up in the “vital statistics” section of the newspapers..there, done Baby Barack is an American citizen..and no one had any reason to question whether he was actually BORN there….until he was running for Prez.
The people who knew he could have a COLB without actually being born there, wanted records from the Hospital, which no Hawiian Hosp would provide, no delivery Doctor’s signature, nothing that most people who were born in an American Hospital had…and then the ducking, jiving and “birther” ridicule begins.
Then, we have the Indonesian adoption, and we’d just like to know that he naturalized himself back as an American Citizen, ( like you had to Debbie)..nobody can find record of it. And when it comes to college, did he get financial aid as a foreign student?, thereby meaning that if he ever DID consider himself an American Citizen, he didn’t THEN…he was applying for money as a foreign student….but, no one can find that out either because his records are sealed. Then, what about the name change? no one can find record of where he ever legally went to Court and changed his name back to Barack Hussein Obama from Barry Solotero. (I can NEVER remember how to spell that).
So, basically, that’s the “birther” argument in a nutshell, plain and simple…the more they/we have been ridiculed, the more angry it makes them…as stated, I’m tired of it, ready to let it go for the reasons stated, but I will NEVER think of the “birthers” as crazy conspiracy nuts for just asking the obvious questions, that any legitimate “President” would be more than happy to answer, when he won’t, it just makes the situation worse……..
After posting that comment, I stepped away for awhile and came back to read the responses..I got the usual….all ridicule, no substance, or just flat out denial……Sharon, get a life, he’s an American citizen…..I don’t have time for crazy conspiracy theories….etc…etc…
So, I quickly posted one sentence…” Is there ANYONE on this blog who is not so blinded by Obama love that they can give me a good reason why we should not demand that our President be at least an American Citizen??
I posted that and started getting ready for work…..fussin’ to myself, I don’t need to explain myself to these self important, pseudo-intellectuals on this blog….sitting in there typing away so smugly about how even the Republicans wont listen to us crazy birthers, even Karl Rove says Obama refusing to release his records is good “political strategy” for Obama… ha ha ha harde har har. They wouldn’t be so smug if the knew that once our voices get heard….they are GOING Down….all those pet projects of Obama’s that he’s been breaking the law to shove down our throats, Obamacare, his communists appointments, all these executive orders….all wiped out in ONE FELL SWOOP……and ALL of you and your attack dog media exposed as the silly DUPES that you ARE!!!..you let someone sit in the President’s chair who isn’t even an AMERICAN citizen, let alone a natural BORN one…. Gee, we almost think THAT would be worth the price of admission.!!! We wouldn’t have to worry about arguing with you crazy liberals for YEARS to COME!! Good afternoon ya’ll. Thanks for the KUDOS……yea, I am passionate, but as stated earlier, I don’t have the “higher education” to look at issues from every political or economical angle, just…as some of YOU said..a person who , like you, have discovered a newfound admiration for our founding Fathers, and the Divine wisdon that gave us the Constitution, and it breaks my heart to see how far we have gotten away from it…..I would really love to see our Country living closer to the Constitution and less towards tyranny in my lifetime..being 54..I am getting a bit impatient. I am kind of impatient by nature anyway….when I want something bad enough (wink) But, my passionate arguements are usually coming from “common sense”, I feel..although I’m sure there are SOME who diagree with me. (snip).
I “fell for it” TOO…I’m ashamed to say, I even went to far as to agree that I would not “hijack” the local Tea Party with my “birtherism”, and told the crazy crew on that librag blog to PLEASE not paste the birther label on the Tea Party or any other Conservatives who were posting on the blog…and went all around the bend explaining all the Court cases, forgery etc.
When I streamlined the “birther” arguments to the liberal crew, I realized that it all boils down to the bottom line…the VERY first argument that we made….if he were born here, in Hawaii as he stated, there is no reason why he should not have presented a HOSPITAL GENERATED Long Form Birth Certificate, and no accusations of racism and everybody wanting to call us crazy, or telling us that no one ELSE had to produce one should have been tolerated, by ANYONE, the Supreme Court most of all!!
When he was inagurated, the Supreme Court, Congress and so forth began behaving as if he were already a “legitimate” President, when he never proved himself to be such. Even going so far as to allow him to place roadblocks in our way to the truth. He STILL hasn’t ever proven that he is legit…but I don’t think we need to again, go through all this BEGGING the Courts to HEAR us on the forgery or anything else. We just need to back to the beginning. And tell them, you failed us, You blantently ignored “We the People” who had the TRUTH on our side..actively took part in ridiculing us, you already failed in honoring your oath to the Constitution, you are treasonous!! Because of this..we have a “President” who is not even an AMERICAN citizen, let alone a Natural Born one. We don’t NEED to dance through anymore court case, we need to cut to the chase, bottom line, why should we trust Courts and proper Procedures when they allowed this mess to begin with…we are taking control back…we have the blessings of the Constitution to do so. LOOK where “trusting you” and following proper procedures GOT us!! It’s time YOU answer to “We the People”!!

I am thrilled that you posted about this, Kate, because Lame Cherry has a most apropos comment regarding the subject at WND:
O. k., it’s taking forever and a day to search out that comment, so I’ll paraphrase: It’s a racist lie that blacks will riot if Obama is outed as a liar and a fraud. What do you expect from a CIA agent? Vallely is part of the conspiracy, and is trying to get the rest of us to stand down, in fear of a backlash that will never come.
In short, the backlash is a racist lie. Blacks will not riot in the streets – maybe Al Sharpton will try to get some money out of it, but the Big Money Backers are just using this line to perpetuate the time they can STEAL OUR MONEY!!

“(CNSNews.com) – Louis Fisher, a scholar in residence at the Constitution Project who served for 40 years as a constitutional law expert at the Library of Congress, says Americans and members of Congress should understand that President Barack Obama committed a “very grave offense” against the Constitution in taking military action in Libya without congressional authorization.
“I am not going to recommend that the House Judiciary Committee hold impeachment hearings, but I would like members of Congress and the public to say that nothing would be more impeachable than a President who takes the country to war without coming to Congress, who does it unilaterally,” Fisher told CNSNews.com’s Online With Terry Jeffrey.
“So, I would like people to be educated, including members of Congress, to be educated that that is a very grave offense,” said Fisher.
On March 19, President Barack Obama ordered the U.S. military to take actions against the Libyan regime of Muammar Gadhafi.
The day before that, Obama had given a speech stating that a resolution passed by the U.N. Security Council on the previous day that authorized the use of military force in Libya would justify U.S. action there.
“Yesterday, in response to a call for action by the Libyan people and the Arab League, the U.N. Security Council passed a strong resolution that demands an end to the violence against citizens,” said Obama. “It authorizes the use of force with an explicit commitment to pursue all necessary measures to stop the killing, to include the enforcement of a no-fly zone over Libya.”
In his March 19 speech informing the American people that he had ordered military action in Libya that was already taking place as he spoke, Obama said he was taking the action to defend the “writ of the international community.”
“So we must be clear: Actions have consequences, and the writ of the international community must be enforced,” said Obama. “That is the cause of this coalition.”
Fisher, whose book Presidential War Power is a definitive scholarly account of the drafting of the constitutional war power and its historical interpretation and implementation, scoffs at Obama’s argument that the United Nations, which the U.S. joined through a treaty ratified by the Senate, can usurp the war power the Constitution gives to both houses of Congress.
“He said I have authorization from the Security Council. It is not authorization under U.S. constitutional law,” said Fisher.
“First of all, I would like to make it clear that in the U.N. Charter, you cannot have the president and the Senate through the treaty process–the UN Charter or NATO–you cannot have those two actors take the power of Congress and the House of Representatives and give it to either the Security Council or to NATO countries,” said Fisher.
“And I think even people who read presidential power broadly know that that is not possible,” he said.
“You cannot use a treaty to amend the Constitution,” he explained.
In Presidential War Powers, Fisher recounts how Framers James Madison and Elbridge Gerry introduced an amendment at the Constitutional Convention to change the language of the proposed power to make war. The draft presented to the full convention said Congress would have the power to “make” war.
“Mr. Madison and Mr Gerry moved to insert ‘declare,’ striking out ‘make’ war; leaving to the Executive the power to repel sudden attacks,” wrote Madison in his notes from the convention.
Explaining this proposed change, Gerry said he “never expected to hear in a republic a motion to empower the Executive alone to declare war.”
Madison and Gerry’s amendment was accepted by the convention and included in the Constitution ratified by the states. Had Madison and Gerry’s amendment not been accepted, the Constitution would have given Congress all power over war by giving Congress alone the power to “make” war. With the amendment, as per Madison’s notes, Congress still had the power over war except when the president needed to “repel sudden attacks.”
Fisher writes in is book, and said in his interview with CNSNews.com, that all presidents from George Washington through Franklin Roosevelt respected this understanding of the Constitution until President Harry Truman sent U.S. troops into Korea without authorization from Congress–using a U.N. resolution as his justification.”

“This is all you need to know about Obama’s economic program to understand why joblessness remains so persistent:
The number one recommendation that the White House economic team and his jobs council – a council made up of the two top executives at GE and American Express- can come up with to jump start our economy is spending $2 billion on remedial training for our high school graduates.
It’s true. This is even worse than the energy plan that Obama proposed that had no new ideas.
The training is necessary, they say, so those graduates can fill the millions of jobs available today in manufacturing. Manufacturing what? Burgers and fries?
For the last week President Obama and his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness- a council that’s supposed to be jump starting hiring- have been going around the country claiming that there are 2 million manufacturing jobs available right now that are going unfilled because the U.S. doesn’t have the skilled workforce to fill those jobs.
It gets worse.
And they are making the pitch to spend $2 billion to try to remedy this problem.
It gets worse still.
“There are more than two million open jobs in the U.S.,” writes Obama’s Jobs chiefs Jeff Immelt (GE) and Ken Chenault (American Express) in the Wall Street Journal, “in part because employers can’t find workers with the advanced manufacturing skills they need.”
The Los Angeles Times cited the same figure on the 13th of June saying that Immelt’s and Chenault’s council would recommend to President Obama that the country “Develop training partnerships with community colleges and vocational schools to help fill what they said were more than 2 million job openings in advanced manufacturing in the United States.”
Obama did a dog-and-pony show at a community college that teaches students how to work on hybrid vehicles to showcase this advanced manufacturing training. I covered the event in a previous column, Obamanauts Flunk Word Problem.
The problem of course is that the 2 million advanced manufacturing job openings that Obama, Immelt and Chenault are talking about really don’t exist.
Why doesn’t it surprise me that Obama, Immelt and Chenault would feel perfectly comfortable lying to the American people about job openings that don’t actually exist?
But wait, it gets even worse still.”
