“At a private meeting last week with lawyers in the case, U.S. District Judge James Zagel said he was eyeing January for a second trial and suggested he would appoint two attorneys for Blagojevich at taxpayer expense, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Blagojevich’s legal team of seven lawyers was paid from his campaign funds for the first trial, but taxpayers will have to foot the bill for the retrial because the $2.7 million in campaign money ran out.
No date for a retrial has been picked, and the matter remains fluid, those with knowledge of the meeting said. The attorneys are scheduled to meet for a public status hearing in front of Zagel on Thursday.”

This is a question for all of the lawyers. The pumps, lines, and other hydraulic equipment has been put in place for the Top Kill operation. There were some hydraulic leaks that were fixed. There are still others that just dribble and will probably not be fixed. This is one of the confusing things – people hear the word “leak” and go nucking futs. There is a vast difference between a leak in the well and a leak in the hydraulic control lines that are used all over the place for operations.

I have yet to see on the news any Gulf Coast person complaining, they just seem to be speaking out due to frustration-they were promised a myriad of things/help etc. and they seem to be left wondering. All of the above quotes above from me regarding the GOM Oil Disaster appear to be correct. And they are still true. And they agree with every reputable and unbiased expert. Even your own latest report which started this discussion today says that the “plume” is from before the well was shut down. There are no new leaks and no known ‘fissures’.
And I have never said it was 75% mopped up. In fact I have specifically criticized people who say that. I have consistently said that the worst is likely yet to come from the oil already out there.
Another big crisis is the unknown consequences of the Corexit. It has submerged a lot of the oil (therefore plumes) so it does not appear on the surface. But it is not clear how well it is actually beneficially dispersing anything. And then there is the residual toxicity from the chemicals themselves. Still a big unknown, but likely to be grim.
You are so full of hogwash that you are seriously embarassing yourself!
The Real GOM Oil Gusher Update
All indications continue that the Wild Well (WW) is at least temporarily stopped. They have put the Relief Well (RW) on hold for a couple of weeks so they can continue to assess the details of the completed Top Kill procedure. (is it really solid? barely hanging on? where did all the cement go? where it was supposed to? etc.)
They have removed part of the stack of hydraulic valves and equpment on top of the well head and are trying to fish out the drilling pipe that was left in the well when it blew up. You may also recall that the Blow Out Preventer (BOP) – a package of valves and hydraulics as big as a small skyscraper – was damaged when the well blew up. When they get the drilling pipe out, they plan to replace the damaged BOP with a functional one. They have been instructed to carefully retain and control the damaged BOP for forensic evidence.
As soon as all that is done, then they plan to complete the RW. It is currently about 3.5 feet laterally and 80 feet vertically from the planned intersection point. When that all begins again (after Labor Day) I will report back what they are doing and what they are seeing.
In the meantime, please ignore hysteria, scientists and politicians gone beserk, and you know who. You know I’ll give you the straight scoop. So far I am batting 1000.

PS – I just reported on activities around the well. Please don’t confuse that with the ENTIRE story. The bigger story is where is all the oil, when will it come back, how will expected hurricanes and tropical storms affect it, and all that.
One reason I don’t report so much on that aspect is that it is all unknown. All we know for sure is that it is definitely not ‘fixed’. Everything else is various shades of speculation and hysteria.
The other thing to keep in mind is to never NEVER let Commander Zero and his Flying Minkeys off the hook on this. This is that part that has gone really bad and the part they are most responsible for. Do NOT let them claim ‘mission accomplished’.
The parts that are more factual and have gone relatively better are the undersea technology and the capping of the well. It has taken a very long time and one could wish for it to be faster, but it is what it is.
There is also the critical outstanding question of how and why the rig blew up in the first place. Some are quick to blame CZ and his FMs for this also. One can wish that were true (so they can nail his azz), but it is far from proven. My guess is that we will learn as much about the Ground Truth of this as we know about the Ground Truth of JFK assisination, 9/11, and other American Mysteries. Again one can wish and hope for better – but wishing and hoping does not make it so.
Somebody needs to educate Mr. Beck: the seed of Islam is passed down through the father. Therefore, we have a Kenyan-muslim-communist usurper in the White House.

My “big idea” is to sort the wheat from the chaff for you. Not just broadside all the chaff on you and hope you can sort it out yourselves. I can only do that because I have some knowledge in the area and a lifetime of experience with scientific reasoning. If one doesn’t have any credentials, I guess the only thing they can do is sling chaff. Or maybe the best thing of all would be to not post things they know nothing about?
