“SETH RICH UPDATE: TV AD WITH RUSSIAN SUBTITLES QUESTIONS DNC STAFFER’S MURDER
A television spot asking viewers for information about the 2016 death of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich will launch soon in Washington, D.C. As theories circulate around the unsolved death, the spot will include Russian subtitles.
“There’s reason to believe that there could be a Russian connection, so what we did was we wanted to tap into everything,” says a spokesman for Jack Burkman, a Republican lobbyist who funded the ad. “If in fact there is a Russian connection—and people haven’t been able to rule out it’s still a possibility—we thought it would be a good idea to reach out to them.”
Rich, 27, was fatally shot in July 2016 while walking home late at night in Washington. Police have said they believe the incident was a botched robbery. But because Rich worked for the Democratic National Committee, and because WikiLeaks published thousands of emails from the committee less two weeks after his death, people have speculated that Rich provided the materials to WikiLeaks and that his death was perhaps an attempt to prevent him from doing so or to punish him for it. Since then, Fox News’s Sean Hannity, the Russian embassy in London, the Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom, who the U.S. Department of Justice has accused of illegal activity, and others have pushed forward the theory. Rich’s parents have called for such claims to stop.
Burkman, the lobbyist behind the TV spot, announced last September that he would offer $100,000 to anyone who solves the killing. He also launched the Profiling Project, a team working to solve the case. “The objective here really is just to get closure for this family,” Burkman told Newsweek in 2016. He added, “You certainly can’t rule out any theories, or at least you shouldn’t.” In June, the Profiling Project released an 83-page report claiming that the person who murdered Rich was probably “a hired killer or serial murderer.” A spokesman for the Rich family disputed the findings.
The 30-second spot will have its debut on Tuesday in Washington and appear later in other markets, according to the spokesman for Burkman. Newsweek obtained an early copy of the ad, and it shows Burkman speaking into the camera about the case and imploring viewers to visit the website Who Killed Seth. The website has information for sending tips to Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department. The Russian subtitles appear throughout the ad. Burkman is holding a press conference on Monday in Washington to discuss the ad.
During its initial run, the spot is ostensibly targeting a small population; there are only around 1,900 Russian speakers living in Washington, and just 400 or so speak English less than “very well,” according to Census estimates published in 2015.”

What Should We Do With the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty?

In 1996, the United Nations worked to adopt Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) to completely ban nuclear explosions “by everyone, everywhere: on the Earth’s surface, in the atmosphere, underwater and underground.”
So far 163 countries have fully agreed to abide the treaty, according to the UN commission in charge of the test ban, including France, the UK, and Russia.
Before the CTBT can be enforced, though, eight countries with nukes still need to sign and ratify the document: China, Egypt, India, Iran, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, and — yes — the United States.
Looking at the current world situation and the other holdouts, China won’t ratify before the United States, India won’t ratify before China, and Pakistan won’t ratify before India which means U.S. action is also crucial.
North Korea, the only country to test nuclear weapons in the 21st century, is least likely of the eight key countries to ratify the CTBT,
The last known test by an unsigned nation was North Korea, which detonated a nuke underground on September 3, 2017. India and Pakistan detonated bombs in 1998, and the last-known US nuclear tests happened in 1992.
Until the treaty is enacted, the proliferation of nuclear weapons and their testing seems inevitable.

In reality there will be no signing of the accord until NOKO has at least achieved PARITY with the US. Basically we can do NOTHING about it. Where I use to work Vandenberg AFB (now retired), we used the Eniwetok and Kwajalein Atolls for MM III target practice Don’t know about the lagoon radiation factors, but I can tell you that drivers use to recover the spent MM III RV’s from the lagoon floor.

They done further testing and dug into the bottom slightly and the radiation level increased substantially. Why this is still so high gives me cause to wonder if the CS 137 from the March 1954 H test ever declined at all. CS 137 has a half life up to about 30 years. Immersion in sea water may change, or extend the high level of radiation substantially……..something to research.

Just a bit of nuclear science for a Monday morning:
The bomb destined for Hiroshima contained a core of Uranium 235, while the bomb dropped on Nagasaki contained a core of Plutonium-239.
The ‘half-life’ is the time required for half of the atoms of a radioactive substance to disintegrate. Iodine-131 has a half-life of just 8 days; Uranium-235 has a half-life of 700 million *years*, and Plutonium-239 has a half-life of 24,000 years.
The bomb that was dropped on Eniwetok Atoll had a core of Uranium-235. So, yes, with a half-life of 700 million years, you would expect to find radioactivity. None of us will be around by the time it completely disintegrates.

The only reason why I have a basic understanding of the nuclear energy thing is because we had to go to a two week school about nuclear energy before we left for the Marshall Islands test area at Eniwetok in 1954 where we done support activity of the AEC people on site who were preparing the site for the BRAVO shot which I witnessed from a distance of 40 miles. Unfortunately this distance was not correct for the size of detonation which it turned out to be which was 15 megaton. The test was expected to yield only 7500 megaton. The blast ended up contaminating over 7000 sq.miles of the Pacific area surrounding the Marshall Islands, and to the East and South of the test area. It also ended up raining down highly radioactive ash upon Rongelap AFB which had to be abandoned. In addition an entire tribe of Micronesian people had to be removed from their home island and transplanted to another island. The US government to this day is still providing healthcare to the Micronesians affected. One aircraft carrier was so heavily plastered with fallout that the crew had to be removed, the ship was COLD IRONED, and towed back to Bremerton Wa. where it underwent a series of sandblasting efforts to reduce the radiation coming from it. It was finally determined to be safe for a crew aboard, and returned to service during the Viet Nam war as a helicopter carrier. This was CVE 105. Later in the fight we discovered that many of the pilots of the NOKO Migs were actually Russians. Most of the Migs sent up against our airmen were sent back down in flames, and pieces within minutes after they arrived. Once our pilots learned the capabilities of the Mig 15 the shoot down rate increased substantially. Then came the Mig 21 with Russian pilots………many of them were also sent back to the earth in flames, and pieces. So much for heatseeking air to air missiles. right up their a$$es. har har . Until the Russians discovered how to evade a heatseeking missile they had huge losses. It was a Russian pilot who first demonstrated how to avoid a heatseeker…………you fly in tight circles soon the missile is flying in a circle as well…….and around, and around it goes until it runs out of fuel then drops to the ground and explodes on contact. Another evasive tactic which a veteran told me about was when you know there is a missile coming at you you fire your afterburners, and fly into the sun. and soon the heatseeker locks onto the sun and disappears over the horizon. har har. Unfortunately not all of our pilots got away from the upcoming telephone poles.
Russian Sam 2 missiles were radar directed, and much more difficult to escape from. US fighters began carrying a container of WINDU which was aluminum foil in strips. When a pilot released the WINDU the ground radar was fooled into believing that a cloud of aluminum strips was the aircraft and the missile would explode harmlessly way behind our pilots.
