“Greensboro has the highest property tax rate in NC. No wonder they are scrambling to attract business.”…Citizen Wells

“Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach.”… George Bernard Shaw

“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

One of my older friends, who was also raised in Greensboro, NC told me his father always said “If the government offers you anything for free, run.”

His dad was correct.

There is no free lunch.

It costs somebody(s) something and always more filtering of money spent through cumbersome government bureaucracies resulting in a small percentage of seed money being applied to the intended use.

It also, invariably, is inefficient.

My writing this article now is quite a result of “chance.” Or is it?

A few days ago I ran into someone I had met many months ago. An economist at UNCG and a colleague of Andrew Brod who is often quoted in the News Record. I actually referred to Brod in our talk about the economy and jobs. We had a long conversation about the economy and real jobs situation.

Just a few minutes ago I found the following article by “chance.”

From the Greensboro News Record June 5, 2015.

“This digital divide, which particularly is stark in rural areas, persists even in Greensboro, where 33.8 percent of residents have no access to broadband Internet, according to data from the American Community Survey.

Across the state, 28 percent of all North Carolina households have no access to the Internet. North Carolina ranks 40th in the nation for Internet access.

That’s what makes Cityfi such a strong contender for the Strong Cities, Strong Communities Economic Challenge. This competition, sponsored by the City of Greensboro and the federal Economic Development Agency, will award $500,000 to the best ideas for promoting economic growth in Greensboro.

Cityfi would open the Internet to city residents through a free public Wi-Fi network.

The concept was submitted by economist and consultant Andrew Brod and Roch Smith Jr., a Web developer who was one of the city’s early adopters of Internet tools and services.”

“Brod said Cityfi would address two related problems that are particularly persistent in Greensboro: economic inequality and a poorly trained and educated workforce.

Free citywide Wi-Fi would provide greater access to educational resources, giving residents the ability to study, take classes or earn degrees and certifications through distance learning.

It would give people a conduit for starting businesses and make it easier for start-ups to grow.

Most of all, it would provide access for lower-income residents who can’t afford the rates charged by commercial providers.”

What we need in Greeensboro, NC and the US is jobs and an environment that is conducive to business and business incubation, not more government.

Follow the money. Somebody(s) will make money off of this and the taxpayers will foot the bill.

From the Greensboro News Record June 3, 2015.

“According to a survey by the city of Raleigh, Durham residents who gripe about the high cost of living may have a point.

The city’s proposed property-tax rate for 2014-15 – 58.04 cents per $100 of property valuation – is the second-highest among proposed rates in North Carolina’s eight largest cities. In the Triangle, only Carrboro’s proposed rate – 58.94 cents – is higher.

Greensboro is highest at 63.25 cents. Raleigh’s contemplated rate is 40.38 cents.”

There is an unholy symbiotic relationship between “educators”, government and politicians.

They are all feeding and profiting off one another.

Most politicians pander to the left and so called educators to get elected

I am disgusted by them blaming our woes on lack of money spent and focus on traditional higher education which is currently wasting our time and money.

I have stated for years that the focus should be on the primary grades.

When many of us were young, we had to visit a library to do research.

Examine the percentage of educational research done on the internet.

You are more likely to find tuning in to our pop/entertainment culture.

I am a regular customer at a coffee shop adjacent to a major university. I am always astounded at the number of young people watching videos using wireless access.

The problem with many in this country, including the folks who supposedly cannot afford internet access, is priorities.

You will find in a majority of those homes a very nice TV and probably deluxe channel access.

Just as I find young people at coffee shops watching internet videos you too, I am certain, experience the same thing. Just look at smart phone ads and features.

See many educational focused ads?

Draft Judge Andrew Napolitano for President

This week, Congress is slated to make a major decision on Internet taxation.

And this time it isn’t about sales taxes… it’s about whether local, state, or federal bodies have power to tax the Internet itself.

This is why we need to urge every Representative to prohibit government from taxing the Internet by supporting H.R. 235 when it hits the floor this week.

I notice Judicial Watch is hard at work exposing the corruption of this regime, and not one single investigation by the government, of any of these crimes, as if all of this crap is legal to them, and OK. Inspector Generals are neutered, the whole system is corrupt.

Are those bastards so insulated, that they don’t see what this usurper is doing? Cut off the funding of this usurper, and his usurper first laddy!

“The Obama IRS obstructed and lied to a federal judge and Judicial Watch in an effort to hide the truth about Lois Lerner’s emails,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

“The IRS, including its top political appointees IRS Commissioner John Koskinen and General Counsel William J. Wilkins, has much to answer for over its contempt of court and of Congress. And the Department of Justice officials enabling this cover-up in court need to be held accountable, as well. The IRS is out of control and Judicial Watch is happy that Judge Sullivan has taken this key step to remind the agency that it is accountable to the rule of law and the American people.”

  9. What does Obama have on Boehner ?

Why is Congress leadership failing us. I feel the problem is Speaker Boehner. Boehner needs to step aside and resign, but no way. Obama wants Boehner. So the big question what does Obama have on Boehner. Matt Drudge printed an article last December giving us a view on Boehner and his do nothing leadership. Without it we will go nowhere. Read Matt’s article. We need more pressure on the lush Boehner.

    ——————————————————————————–

Matt Drudge, the brilliant editor of the Drudge Report, is a leading conservative voice who has a better news for nose than anyone on Earth. So when House John Boehner (R-OH) surprised everyone by helping pass the unfortunate “CRomnibus” bill – which fully funds Obamacare and supports Obama’s amnesty agenda, people started to ask questions. Why, after a massive Republican landslide victory on election day, would Boehner act in such a strange way?

Drudge clued us all in to his educated theory about what happened behind the scenes.

Obama got EVERYTHING. NSA dirt on Boehner must be incredible. Chicago wins. pic.twitter.com/Pl4HW9qGtb
    — MATT DRUDGE (@DRUDGE) December 12, 2014
As we know, the White House was not afraid to use the powers of government agencies – such as the Internal Revenue Service – to get what it wants. After all, they come from the hard-nose Chicago school of politics.

Drudge wouldn’t float such a theory without reason. Not only might Boehner have a drinking problem, it wasn’t long ago that it was rumored that Boehner was having an affair:

House Minority Leader John Boehner was asked by a liberal blogger Thursday to answer questions about an affair with a lobbyist, an allegation that will reportedly be the focus of an upcoming New York Times expose. Boehner ignored the question outright.
The Post sees a journalistic plot to drop a bombshell on the upcoming midterm elections by smearing a high-profile GOP leader:

Mike Stark, an activist and blogger, intercepted Leader Boehner after his highly publicized “Pledge to America” unveiling to ask him about the accusation:

“Speaker Boehner, have you been cheating with Lisbeth Lyons, the lobbyist for the American Printing Association?” Stark asks. Boehner did not respond.

Stark later contacted Lyons, the Vice President of Government Affairs at Printing Industries of America, to get a comment on the allegations. She didn’t provide any.

The New York Post has since caught up with Lyons, who said the rumors were “unfounded.”

“As you can imagine, I was stunned by such a question,” Lyons told the Post. “I found it to be highly insulting, particularly as a female political professional, as well as unfounded. Beyond that, I have no further comment on the matter.”
What do you think of Drudge’s theory? Is Obama abusing the NSA to pass his big-government agenda?

“Lack of jobs, pay for millennials symbolizes second-rate economy”

“After riots broke out in Baltimore in April, the son of the owner of the Orioles baseball team famously lamented the loss of middle-class jobs that “plunged millions of good, hard-working Americans into economic devastation.”

The lack of good jobs did not light the bonfire of violence. The funeral of a 25-year-old black man who died in the custody of police was the spark. Yet the unrest was also fueled by the simmering frustration of many Americans who still cannot find decent jobs six years after the end of the worst economic calamity in the U.S. since the Great Depression.

While some graduates from the nation’s most prestigious universities still have trouble finding good-paying work, the problem is especially acute for young people who lack degrees or never finished high school, especially African-Americans. And even many millennials who have gotten jobs are starting out at lower salaries compared to previous generations or find themselves stuck in positions that don’t even require a degree.

The plight of young people helps explain why the economy continues to underperform as it enters the seventh year of a recovery. The last time the U.S. has grown 3% annually — the historic average is 3.3% — was a decade ago.

Millennials are more frugal than their parents, live longer at home after they get out of school, get married less, have fewer kids and are less apt to buy big-ticket items such as cars or homes. Large student debts for many of them add to the burden.”

“If Your BS Detector Is Not Screaming, It’s Broken”

“We now inhabit a world where virtually everything is a con. That “organic” produce from some other country–did anyone test the soil the produce grew in? It could be loaded with heavy metals and be certified “organic” because no pesticides were used during production. But what about last year? And the year before? What’s in the water used to irrigate the crops?

The employment/unemployment statistics are obviously BS. 93 million people aren’t even counted any more–they’re statistical zombies, no longer among the living workforce. If the unemployment rate were calculated on the number of full-time jobs and the true workforce (everyone ages 18 – 70 that isn’t institutionalized or in prison), the unemployment rate would not be the absurdly delusional 5.6% claimed by the bureaucratic con artists.”

  13. Mr. Wells
Where I shop mostly at Wal Mart I have noticed that almost all of our fresh vegetables comes from foreign countries like Mexico and Peru. Mostly Avocados! I am looking forward to buying from our Farmers Market here as I now live in a farming area. I plan on doing a lot of canning. 🙂 I have noticed since I have moved back to the area that I used to call home, I no longer see rice fields. I bet China is the leader of our rice and we know how polluted that is! The farmers used to plant every field and I guess the government is paying them to not plant crop. All I am really seeing planted is corn. I saw one little cotton field and a couple of fields of field peas. Boy, thirty five years sure does change things. Oh, by the way we have more then our share of chem trails!!! I wonder why? I have noticed they are spraying mostly during the night and when I wake up around day light and I go out side I smell a chemical. We do not have factories that puts out chemicals.

I have long suspected that John Boehner is humping one or more of the congresswomen under his control. I used to watch the dark haired one who used to stand behind Boehner at a news conference. She sure looked like she was in heat!!
It is past time to march on congress and demand Boehner step down or we will try him for TREASON along with his buddy O’Connell (sp)

  15. Mr. Wells

I forgot to say that I am going to do every thing I can to keep our farmers employed. haha At lease my count of the employed will be correct instead of full of lies!

Ginger, I am growing more & more of my produce, using heirloom (non hybrid) seeds & harvesting the seeds.
I am getting better at this & learning a lot.
Have been keeping bell pepper & tomato plants alive through winter & working on a better greenhouse design.

  17. Mr. Wells…As soon as I find some land I plan on that garden and green house. I have a realtor looking now…and next year I will be ready! A green house will be constructed first! MY DREAM 🙂 I am trying out my heirloom seeds right now…starting them in the windowsill greenhouse. I have been saving the harvested seeds for a few years now. I heard that Barry has ordered the seeds manipulated so we could not grow productive produce. I have been preparing a long time now for my family too because they do not take enough time on the internet to see the real truth of what is going on in our America and the world. Did you know that you can make little burners to heat up or cook foods with a soda can? We have several made. Lots of large candles, etc!

    GINGER…

    Good morning my friend…too answer your question, here is my take on what is happening;

As I have long advocated……and have proudly proclaimed over, and over, and over, ect…..

“AS THE PEOPLE ARE WITNESSING TODAY, THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN A DEMOCRAT AND REPUBLICAN”….

They all come from the same slimy barrel of Sh*t and smell the same, act the same, lie the same, and vote the same…….

So would someone please explain to me why we vote for either a Democrat or Republican in our elections today when they are essentially the same and are professed to be….. “Brothers Under The Skin”?

One political party is just as corrupt as the other, either is just as likely to take a corrupt kickback as the other, and both are just as likely to “sale out our country” as the other…..so……where does that leave us, “We The People”…..well I can answer that question very easy…… as peon citizens, “We Are Just Up Sh*t Creek Without a Paddle”…….that’s our position now.

I ask again……..please tell me the SPECIFIC difference we have today in a Democrat and a Republican?….they are both leading us down the road to total socialism, and eventually a system of communism, which we will find is much worse than anything the Russians ever knew……their actions today are proving that statement.

When that happens, we call all greet each other in the morning by saying; “GOOD MORNING COMRADE,….. ALL POWER TO THE STATE”

After we do that, we can scratch our heads in amazement and ask ourselves……whatever happened to our “Constitution Republic”?

Just like the fall of communism in Russia, we will “go down the river” without ever firing a shot in the defense of our Liberties and Freedom.

What a sad, sad ending to a wonderful birth of this nation in 1776.

I just hope I’m not around to see the final nail driven in the only nation that is preventing the entire world from collapsing into slavery..

What part of “shall not be infringed” do these criminals not understand?

Forget Jade Helm: Obama quietly implementing OUTRAGEOUS rule against gun owners
Written by Allen West on June 9, 2015

The Second Amendment to our U.S. Constitution states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

That statement is pretty clear to understand and comprehend, yet some folks just can’t seem to get over it. There are liberal progressive folks of the left who feel it is their mission in life to relegate the Second Amendment as meaningless. Now, what I am about to say will probably anger some people but so be it.

I’m often asked about FEMA camps along the interstate, Walmart stores closing, and the impending Operation Jade Helm. I continue to tell people that while you’re running around with your hair on fire concerning yourself about these stories, the Obama administration is doing the “Kansas City Shuffle” — you look right while they go left.

Get a load of THIS quiet assault going on – not just on our Second Amendment, but our First as well.

As reported by the Washington Examiner, “Commonly used and unregulated internet discussions and videos about guns and ammo could be closed down under rules proposed by the State Department, amounting to a “gag order on firearm-related speech,” the National Rifle Association is warning.

“In updating regulations governing international arms sales, State is demanding that anyone who puts technical details about arms and ammo on the web first get the OK from the federal government — or face a fine of up to $1 million and 20 years in jail. According to the NRA, that would include blogs and web forums discussing technical details of common guns and ammunition, the type of info gun owners and ammo reloaders trade all the time.”

“Gunsmiths, manufacturers, reloaders, and do-it-yourselfers could all find themselves muzzled under the rule and unable to distribute or obtain the information they rely on to conduct these activities,” said the NRA in a blog posting. “This latest regulatory assault, published in the June 3 issue of the Federal Register, is as much an affront to the First Amendment as it is to the Second,” warned the NRA’s lobbying shop. “Your action is urgently needed to ensure that online blogs, videos, and web forums devoted to the technical aspects of firearms and ammunition do not become subject to prior review by State Department bureaucrats before they can be published,” it added.”

The result is that the Obama administration is going to assault the First Amendment in order to undermine the Second. Once again the bureaucratic regulatory state has reared its ugly head, developed a rule and posted it to the Federal Registry without the consent and knowledge of the American people, nor their Representatives. This is yet another means by which the Obama administration — aka, the liberal progressive left, is seeking to infringe upon the right of the people to keep and bear arms.

Of course you’re asking, how can this be done and what does the State Department have to do with this?

As the Examiner writes, “At issue is the internet. State is updating International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which implement the federal Arms Export Control Act (AECA). The rules govern everything from guns to strategic bombers. The NRA said that the rules predate the internet, and now the federal government wants to regulate technical arms discussions on on the internationally available web.”

As typical for the government gobbledegook, it took State Department 14-pages to explain but the NRA sought to encapsulate their overreach: “With the new proposal published on June 3, the State Department claims to be ‘clarifying’ the rules concerning ‘technical data’ posted online or otherwise ‘released’ into the ‘public domain.’ To the contrary, however, the proposal would institute a massive new prior restraint on free speech. This is because all such releases would require the ‘authorization’ of the government before they occurred. The cumbersome and time-consuming process of obtaining such authorizations, moreover, would make online communication about certain technical aspects of firearms and ammunition essentially impossible.”

Now of course the Obama defenders will say what does this have to do with infringing on the right to keep and bear arms — much ado about nothing. But here is the objective: the government is seeking to restrict the free speech of American gun owners and the gun industry in sharing information pertaining to their ability to keep arms. Furthermore, the government is using regulatory coercion and threat of imprisonment to create behavior modification — not exactly a positive reflection on our governing system.

In addition, the Obama administration is seeking to surrender U.S. Constitutional gun ownership rights to international code — a violation of the sovereignty of our Republic. It’s just another attempt to chip away at our liberty by circumventing the legislative process and our rule of law. THAT is why this matters.

We’re entering that dangerous area of critical mass where America has an executive branch and a president who in their final eighteen months together will complete their fundamental transformation — by any means necessary.

The Obama administration and the progressive socialist left have effectively become “da man.” And because they’ve gone down that path, we may be entering a time of warranted civil disobedience. To think, that if I, Allen West, a law-abiding American citizen, were to write technical details or make a video about my Bushmaster AR-15 on this website without prior approval of the State Department, I could face a $1 million fine or 20 years in jail is simply beyond belief and comprehension. Welcome to the new America, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood liberal progressives.

Message to State Department: first of all, teach John Kerry how to ride a bike, then leave us the heck alone and stop trying to undermine our individual rights.

Message to President Obama: get a strategy to defeat ISIS, because we are not going to allow you to disarm our citizenry so your Islamist pals can overtake us here in our homeland. And I say that fully aware that PSD-11 demonstrates the Obama administration’s collusion with the Muslim Brotherhood — and we know exactly what the Brotherhood has intended for America in their Explanatory Memorandum written in 1991 by Mohammed Akhram. In case you don’t know, a secret directive called Presidential Study Directive-11, or PSD-11 was produced in 2011 and outlines administration support for the Muslim Brotherhood. Of course, no one is allowed to actually read it.

So please folks, instead of FEMA camps, Walmarts, and Jade Helm, study the ITAR and realize how the Obama administration is doing everything possible to slowly undermine your right to keep and bear arms.

Then, flood State Department phone lines demanding they rescind the unconstitutional rule or face the wrath of American gun owners who will not comply.

    ELECTION 2016
HILLARY’S PLANS TO STUFF THE BALLOT BOX

Phyllis Schlafly spotlights devious plan to capture even more illegal-alien votes

Hillary Clinton has laid out her game plan for winning back the White House for herself and her husband next year. Let’s hope Republicans were paying attention.
She apparently decided it won’t be enough to rely on the 66 million people who voted twice for Barack Obama, many of whom are disillusioned by the failure of “hope and change.” Obama promised an end to wars in the Middle East, a more prosperous economy for the average American and more harmonious race relations, but all three problems have only gotten worse.
Since Hillary won’t have the youthful exuberance that propelled Obama to his unlikely double victory, she plans to build a whole new electorate out of people who didn’t vote for Obama. That’s the gist of her speech in Houston last week, which her friends at MSNBC called a “far-reaching vision for expanding access to the ballot box.”
