Obama Fed economy brings families together, In laws and nonrelatives added to family households picked up last year, Improving economy and job growth lies exposed, Young people have higher debt and can’t afford homes

“For now, the absence of young adults from the housing market continues to put a dent in the homeownership rate, which dropped to 64.8% in the first quarter, compared with 65.2% in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to U.S. Census statistics. The rate was as high as 69.2% in the fourth quarter of 2004. For those younger than 35, the rate has fallen noticeably faster. It slipped to 36.2% in the first quarter, from 36.8% in the fourth. The homeownership rate for this group was as high as 43.6% in the second quarter of 2004.”…Market Watch May 12, 2014

“Nearly half of U.S. companies are reluctant to hire full-time employees because of the ACA. One in five firms indicates they are likely to hire fewer employees, and another one in 10 may lay off current employees in response to the law.

Other firms will shift toward part-time workers. More than 40 percent of CFOs say their companies will consider switching some jobs to less than 30 hours per week or targeting part-time workers for future employment.”…Duke University Fuqua School of Business December 11, 2013

We are constantly hearing from the White House and Obama controlled media about an improving economy and jobs situation.

You can fool someone with smoke and mirrors for awhile but eventually the smoke dissipates and the mirrors begin to reflect reality.

Aside from the skyrocketing use of food stamps and other public assistance, record labor force dropouts, frightening levels of student debt and subsequent inability of young people to buy homes, we have another example of the impact of Obama and Fed policies.

From Market Watch September 27, 2014

“Doubled-up homes aren’t just for couch-surfing adult kids (and reluctant parents) anymore”

“With the economy growing in fits and starts, an increase in “doubled-up” homes isn’t just young adults moving into their parents’ basements, according to a recent economic research note.

The number of in-laws and nonrelatives added to family households picked up last year, housing economist Thomas Lawler wrote in a Friday note.

“There was a substantial increase in the ‘doubling-up’ (or more) of households not attributable to ‘young adults’ moving back to their parents’ home,” he wrote.

Crunching government data, Lawler found that in 2013, the population of family households (these are homes that contain families and may include other individuals) added 577,000 householders, spouses and children — down 49% from an average annual increase of 1.1 million between 2010 and 2012. Meanwhile, the number of in-laws and other relatives added to family homes hit 663,000 in 2013, double the recent average, and non-relatives rose more than 700% to 372,000.
Here are a few other trends worth watching:

About 164,000 non-family households with at least two people were formed last year, up from average annual growth of 65,000 between 2010 and 2012.”

  1. How ironic.
    I just found this:

“Ready Or Not… The Unsustainable Status Quo Is Ending”

“~ Walking straight in a hall of mirrors
I have to confess, it’s getting more and more difficult to find ways of writing about everything going on in the world.”

” Look, it’s really this simple: Anything that can’t go on forever, won’t. We know, financially speaking, that a great number of nations are utterly insolvent no matter how much the accounting is distorted. Said another way: there’s really no point in worrying about the combined $100 trillion shortfall in Social Security and Medicare, because it simply won’t be paid.

Why? It can’t, so it won’t. The promised entitlements dwarf our ability to fund them many times over. There’s really not much more to say there.”

  2. As I have said so many times in the past, before you can provide jobs you must have business that is not being either TAXED to death,or being made noncompetitive by radical labor union demands for MORE and MORE money. The business people simply pass it back to the consumer in terms of higher cost. You cannot justify paying an inexperienced, person a $25.00 an hour wage, simply because he shoves a color coded bolt into a color coded hole, puts a color coded nut on it and tightens it with a color coded impact wrench. No skill required at all. But organised labor would have the manufacturers pay such people the same thing they pay the CEO. ……and not long thereafter Mexico,or Canada here comes XYZ Corporation. American business pays the highest corporate taxes in the world…..which leads to the eventual move of a company to a country offering a more equitable tax foundation.

    CW,
The politicians can be blamed for the mess of unfunded liabilities facing America, this is the result of promising money to people in exchange for their vote, and spending other peoples’ money as if it grows on trees.

  4. CW………
……and our inability to fund them is a direct result of DIMINISHING returns from business taxation, and diminishing returns are created by companies moving out of the HIGH TAX ZONE who are no longer competitive in the marketplace.,which also puts more and more people on the street who are now UNEMPLOYED,and receive food stamps. Wasteful government spending is also a facet of the overall problem. Soon we will be called the United Socialist States of America, and eventually our population will be sitting outdoors playing chess just like France, and eventually gasoline will go to close to $10.00 per gallon, and automobiles will be resurrected from junk yards, instead of being bought new at the now exhorbitant prices. When auto manufacturers can no longer achieve a profit margin, they will soon close up. More people unemployed, and one less tax paying corporation. Vicious circle!

    oldsailor82,
dems answer, is to tax those remaining in business to make up for the loss of those they taxed out of business.

What we need is politicians with a different mindset.

  6. Thomas Jefferson once said, “The people..are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.” We will always stand for liberty, and won’t allow our government to take it away!

  8. OT….but IMPORTANT!
I was at YOUTUBE for the last hour listening to many of my favorites. The last of which was the Battle Hymn of the Republic,my favorite of my favorites. I always get choked up when I listen to it because I can remember the pictures which we were shown in boot camp which were UNEDITED battle pictures that showed it all, including the dead. They gave it all,and I can never stop remembering them. The closest I ever came to combat was in helping to pull pilots out of fast sinking AD Skyraiders, during the earlier part of the Korean war. It wasn’t anything glorious or even spectacular, just what was expected of us. Once again the cost of our freedom has been registered heavily upon my mind, and almost brings me to tears. Those who never came home will never be out of my mind. I am still alive thanks to them, and I owe them a great deal. That is basically why the Battle Hymn of the Republic is so important to me. Now once again we are facing the probability of a lengthy campaign in the middle East. With out a doubt we will sustain some losses, both human and material, but my heart lies with each and every one of those who are the bearers of the burden of war. We must always keep their image in our minds. They are and have always been our most precious blood. Just saying how I feel, at the moment…. bye bye

I remember during WW2 when I was in the 5th grade…….we always began each day being led in a simple prayer, and then the pledge of allegiance. Now both are banned from the classrooms, and we can see the results.

  11. Goodnight all………….I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands one nation UNDER GOD with liberty and justice for all.

  12. Very off topic, sorry, but I’m really ticked off. Tonight’s episode of The Good Wife featured the real Valerie Jarrett, who was visiting Chicago where the show takes place. She was asked by Eli, the governor’s political chief of staff, to ask Alicia, the Good Wife, if she would run for state’s attorney. She was reading a script that Eli had given her, but refused to say the line that she was glad Alicia stood behind her husband. I was so angry that she was on the show in the first place, and that they treated her with such reverence, but then I laughed when she had to read a script from Eli, because that’s what she makes Barry do all the time!! Anyway, I wondered if anybody else had seen it and what your reactions were to see Msssss Jarrett on tv. They have had other real-life politicians on the show, from both sides of the aisle. This one has never been elected to anything.

  13. Margie O I

Personally I believe that Mzzzzzzzzzzzz,Jarret is connected to Lil Barry in many ways that we may never learn about. While the connection that is apparent is probably one of common allegiance (IRAN),there might be much more. I have often wondered if she is really his natural MOTHER. In Iran a female child of 12 years of age could easily be a mother. I think Jarret is in her late 60s or early 70s now,so it could be possible. The math works anyway.

  14. Margie O
In reality what we have in DC is another Chicago original Mayor Daly type regime, which equates with an Al Capone sort of organisation, and COMPARABLE to New York Italian crime families. Very little difference. The old Sopranos show makes me think of Soetoro.

  15. Seeing Valerie Jarrett on Good Wife made me want to hurl!!! My husband and I said the same thing about her reading Eli’s script…..she’s the one who is writing the script for Obummer…..

  18. Interested Bystander

Brought over from the last thread:

    Bob Strauss commented:

    “InterestedBystander,

You’re starting to sound like an, “obot”.

Sounds like you are trying to pick a fight over the Sheriff Joe info.

Another battle against another straw man.”

    Bob,

Sounding like an “Obot” am I?

Interesting that someone can’t have a differing opinion without being called names.

I am more interested in what Zullo has to release than the majority of Americans. Zullo is now stating that it won’t be until AFTER the elections, which are still over a month away. I want the information to come out “sooner rather than later”, which are ZULLO’s words, not mine. 6 months isn’t “sooner”, it’s “later”, and continues to get later as the days pass by.

I’m not trying to pick a fight with anyone, I am simply stating my opinion, which I believe is still allowed in this Country.

I respect Sue K more than you know, and I know she is set in her thinking. I’m not trying to confront her or anyone else.

I’m not sure what the last sentence is about.

And for the record, I respect you also Bob. You provide valuable information.

It is my view that your opinion is relevant, and provides insight that only you can give.

Please give me the same courtesy without suggesting that I sound like an “obot”.

Such a beautiful tribute to all that gave for our freedoms.
My father, a WWII vet (Normandy and Battle of the Bulge) never spoke much about his memories when we were growing up. It wasn’t until the past 10 years, he has opened up and speaks about his experiences. And, I am sure we have never heard some of the more “painful” stories. To this day, he can’t stand the smell of the ocean breeze or diesel.

Your and my generations grew up with patriotism and respect for our military. Seems like those younger, just can’t feel those passions. I know the public schools have diminished the aura of patriotism. And most of the younger parents of today are just too busy trying to stay ahead of the hard times. Except for the current military families, the rest just don’t have a clue.

Sadly, it is going to take another hit on our soil for them to wake up.

  20. Good Morning CW, everyone.

This is being done on purpose, it’s being delayed on purpose. I suspect the Republican Party is behind the delay, trying to prevent clearly damaging information from being a rallying cry for the Democrats in the fall election. They will suppress the evidence until they have control of congress, and it becomes a crowbar to pry open the White House. This is ‘political use’ of information for ‘maximum’ effect.

Sadly, this is the very thing that disgusts me about Washington DC and BOTH political parties. Neither is interested in the truth of the American People. Both parties want Power to direct public funds and further enrich themselves and cronies. When the Constitution is less important than cheating your constituents and enriching yourself, the end of the Republic cannot be far off.

Agree completely! That is why there was also a rather loud statement that “impeachment was off the table”, I believe. The Repub plan is not to make any waves before the Nov. elections, and personally I think it is good strategy considering where we are at this point. The clamoring should have taken place long ago, and the strongest use of that opportunity has passed, imho.
