“Happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected.”…George Washington

“To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace.”
…George Washington

“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”…Thomas Paine

From Fox News May 26, 2013.

For his 107th Memorial Day, Richard Arvine Overton, who saw many of his fellow soldiers fall in the line of duty in World War II and even more die over the following decades, is planning a quiet day at the Texas home he built after returning home from World War II.

He wouldn’t want it any other way.

Overton, who is believed to be the nation’s oldest veteran, told FoxNews.com he’ll likely spend the day on the porch of his East Austin home with a cigar nestled in his right hand, perhaps with a cup of whiskey-stiffened coffee nearby.

“I don’t know, some people might do something for me, but I’ll be glad just to sit down and rest,” the Army veteran said during a phone interview. “I’m no young man no more.”

Overton, who was born on May, 11, 1906, in Texas’ Bastrop County, has gotten used to being the center of attention of late. In addition to being formally recognized by Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell on May 9, Overton traveled to Washington, D.C., on May 17 as part of Honor Flight, a nonprofit group that transports veterans free of charge to memorials dedicated to their service. Despite serving in the South Pacific from 1942 through 1945, including stops in Hawaii, Guam, Palau and Iwo Jima to name a few, it was Overton’s first time in the nation’s capital.

“I was really honored when I got there,” Overton said of his visit to the World War II Memorial. “There were so many people, it was up in the thousands. And we danced and we jumped … them people tickled me to death. It made me happy as can be.”

The entire experience gave Overton a “good thrill,” he said, and the significance of visiting the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at a time when an African-American holds the country’s highest elected office was not lost him.

“I was very, very happy,” Overton continued, adding that he wasn’t deterred by Washington’s expansive National Mall. “At my age and my strength, I’m able to stand up and do anything. My mind is good, so I’m able to do what I want.”

Overton credits his longevity to aspirin, which he takes daily, and the relatively stress-free life he’s enjoyed since getting out of the service in October 1945. He then worked at local furniture stores before taking a position with the Texas Treasury Department in Austin. He married twice but never fathered any children and still attends church every Sunday.”

    CW………..
Perhaps Overton was chosen by God to remain on earth for some heretofore unknown purpose. Perhaps we need to investigate and learn about his longevity. Maybe his longevity was brought about as a result of ingesting military grub. In the Navy we had all the SOS we could eat, and VOILA I have outlived both my father, and grandfather to boot. No bragg,….. just fact. HAR HAR.

  3. Breaking: Holder DOJ Went Judge Shopping to Three Different Judges Armed With Criminal Warrants for James Rosen

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2013/05/breaking-holder-doj-went-judge-shopping-to-three-different-judges-armed-with-criminal-warrants-for-james-rosen/

The Holder Department of Justice went judge shopping with criminal warrants for James Rosen.

Two separate judges refused to offer DOJ the ability to secretly search the contents of Rosen’s e-mail account. A third judge, Royce C. Lamberth, appealed the decision and overturned the order of the two judges.

……..The new documents show that two judges separately declared that the Justice Department was required to notify Rosen of the search warrant, even if the notification came after a delay. Otherwise: “The subscriber therefore will never know, by being provided a copy of the warrant, for example, that the government secured a warrant and searched the contents of her e-mail account,” Judge John M. Facciola wrote in an opinion rejecting the Obama Administration’s argument.

Machen appealed that decision, and in September, 2010, Royce C. Lamberth, the chief judge in the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia, granted Machen’s request to overturn the order of the two judges.

Just one more thought and I will get the hell out of the way………I have always thought that happiness is indeed one of the PRIMARY requirements for longevity on earth. Until Soetoro took office I was totally happy myself. Now I am angry much of the time.

    Observer……
Before I get out for the day, here is a question which immediately came to mind after I read your comment……….where have we read about Lamberth in the recent path? It is plain to see that Lamberth is ONE OF THE people whose intention it is to BRING DOWN OUR REPUBLIC,by protecting the bastard. This makes Lamberth one of ….THEM! I also believe that Orly Taitz tasted his unsavory, and otherwise malicious execution of his job.

    William………
I forgot to mention that the Veteran’s Memorial is going to become a first ever “Solace” park. It will eventually be handed over to our county, and be administered as one of our County Parks. The intent is for bereaved people to have a place where they can be alone with God.

    Oldsailor80,

That truly nice to hear. Our vets and family members deserve such respect. I plan on calling my cousin (first cousin) today and see how he’s doing. We talk several times a year. He is and has been suffering from the damage to his body from the chemical Agent Orange during his 3 tours in Vietnam. His daughter was born with severe autism and many other problems that has rendered her in a wheelchair her entire life. They didn’t expect her to live past 8 years old. She is now 40, but mentally still 2. He called last month to say she has now gone completely blind and frightened.

I share this because All of our warriors and their families suffer, some to greater extents than others. The ultimate sacrifice of a personal soldier is dearly a loss – one that I have never had to deal with, thank God.

Did anyone happen to catch last night’s Coast To Coast radio program. It scared the “H” out of me and makes me wonder if this is not our problem today. On the 2nd show last night it covered the new book “Dr.Feel Good” by Bill Birnes. It is primarily about the German Dr. who concocted up a shot that made you feel good (methamphetamine) he developed in Germany and became the Dr. everybody who was anybody, including JFK, went to to feel better. He claims JFK was killed because he was too hooked on his shot and was beginning to show signs of dangerous behavior and hence was done away with by you know who.

    Have a safe Memorial Day.

Has anyone noticed that the cars are driving faster??

  9. oldsailor80

    Mr.Bill…………..
The last time that my wife and I were driving on Interstate 65 to Kentucky we were literally FORCED to drive nearly 80 MPH just to stay with the traffic. Semi trucks were largely complying with their driving laws so this meant that everybody was single file ,bumper to bumper at 80mph in the inside lane. This means that even the slightest mistake by somebody, and BOOM,CRASH, BANG, will be heard, along with the screams of the nutcases who chose to drive on the interstate to begin with. We no longer drive to Kentucky on the interstate we have a very scenic route which we follow which allows us to drive at at nominal speeds up to 65 mph in most open areas. On one of our recent excursions to Kentucky we actually done it in the same time constraints as we achieved on the interstate. We chose a route which allowed us to BYPASS the BYPASS around Indy. Coming from Ft Wayne to Indy is not a bad drive, until you find yourself on the Indy bypass. Then the BAD NEWS BEGINS. I call it SPAGHETTI JUNCTION. If you ever travel to Indy you would be well advised to travel by airplane train,or bus, but NEVER in a car driven by yourself………particulary if you do not know the area very well.

    Mr. Bill…………
Of late the Indiana State Police operating with DEA agents have been knocking off METH COOKERS right and left. Particularly in our Northern Indiana Lake areas. A state policeman recently commented after a raid that one of the people arrested thought he was Superman. The cell IS holding him,so I guess he ISN’T Superman after all! HAR HAR.

    William……….
While I served in the Navy we were assigned to support activity at Eniwetok atoll in conjunction with the 1954 atmospheric H bomb tests. You may or may not know about the INFAMOUS 15 megaton mistake which was detonated in March of 1954,it was called the BRAVO SHOT. I watched it from a point Southeast of ground zero, about 40 miles away. This was ok and was preplanned by all the scientists to be a 7 MEG test, NOT A 15 meg test. Consequently the support ships and just about everybody were NOT in the proper position for a 15 meg test. Those who were parked south by east received some pretty hellacious fallout of Cesium 137,along with all the other elements. The USS Bairoko CVE 115 received such a high dose that the crew had to be removed and it was towed back to Bremerton, to be sandblasted. Inspite of the crew removal two of the ship’s company died early and painful deaths resultant of non hodgekins cancers, which were traced to these crewmen having ingested some of the Cesium fallout. The US government finally admitted that it was aware of the potential dangers of the fallout. The mistake was the result of a lack of communication, and at least a couple mistakes made by the weather people upon whose recommendations the detonation was done. High altitude winds around the Marshall Islands are known to be fickle, but nobody was aware of a 60 degree change of high altitude wind direction just about an hour prior to the detonation. The test ended up contaminating over 7000 sq. miles of the inhabited islands in the Marshalls. The US government is to this day paying for the healthcare of several Micronesian tribes of islanders who had to be relocated because their own islands became too hot for human presence. Cesium 137 has a half life of over 30 years.

All Holder had to do was review the various Obama court challenges to find his corruption sided judges to do his dirty work.

    RMINNC….
Rest assured brother none of us will ever forget!

  15. oldsailor80

BYE BYE ALL I’M out of here!.

  16. Mr. Bill(ms. helga)

Coming up from the south yesterday on 95, I took the Ricmond 295 by -pass north and thought I was in the Indianapolis 500. The trucks were the most aggressive riding up within inches of the drivers’ bumper. The race was on and our trip was 500 miles long. Any little mistake or breakdown would have been horrendous. Driving is no longer fun on the Interstates. I figured Sunday would be trucker free BUT that is what the truckers figured out too. Getting back on I-95 north of Richmond, the speed was more moderate.
When I was young, I would do anything to drive any where. I have done a 180 today. The hand held devices have not helped either. Maybe it is all a government population control system.
RMinNC – I couln’t remember if RM was Rocky Mount. I drove by it yesterday and thought about you. Also for SueQ – I missed Rolling Thunder yesterday from Fairfax Harley Davidson. Did you get to it??

  17. RMinNC | May 27, 2013 at 11:49 am |

Happy Memorial Day to you, RM, all our Veteran friends here, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice to make and keep us free!

To say ‘Thank you for you service’ doesn’t seem to be enough however, to honor and respect those who have served, those who are serving, and those who’ve died in service to America is THE most important thing on Earth.

God bless each and every past, current, and future service members; they are the glue that holds us together.

    We will never forget!

  18. What’s up with this Mr. Commander and Chief?

When a soldier, sailor, or Marine gets killed in combat, his family
eventually gets a flag and a note of sympathy from the United States.

When a black athlete comes out and admits he is gay, he gets a phone
call from the president congratulating him on his courage.

    Am I missing something???

  19. Well here is something T/F “Obama’s Health!’
from a Lame Cherry blog ……..

Further inquiry into the Obama aneurysm in Lame Cherry matter anti matter exclusives…..

In reality the Birther medical condition was congenital in Obama was born with this from conception. The source of this was Anna Chin. She was an opium addict to get through her days. The opium she ingested was tainted in processing with a petrochemical, and this is the genetic source for the Barry Chin vein cluster inside his cranial structure.

Birther Obama Chin has a condition of a vein mass inside his brain. There are 4 aneurysms involved in this structure. It is not in a primary pulmonary route, but it is inoperable, due to the reality it is volatile in weakened state.
It sits in the brain stem region and when it does rupture it will decapitate this region.

The current replacement medicines are weakening this structure further. It was what was behind the original eye twitches and the latest reporter questioning when Obama Chin had his head tilted for most of question in a diagnostic act that pressure is increasing in his cranial structure.
This pressure is not affecting his emotional or memory structure, but it does affect motor functions.

Mrs. Robinson Obama’s planned extended stay from the White House at Martha’s Vineyard has nothing to do with this condition. Her primary concern is impeachment and she desires to milk the public cow of all it’s entitlements “just in case”.
In reality, Muchelle knows nothing of this medical condition. Obama Chin is informed and this is a closely guarded secret in the medical team is aware of this aneurysm cluster, and in political circles, Aaron Burr Biden knows of this as did former Sec. of State Clinton. Leon Panetta, and the political team of Val_erie Jarrett, David Plouffe and David Axelrod were all kept in the dark, as this would have ended Obama’s political career before he was installed at 1600 Penn Avenue.

The reason Mrs. Clinton stayed on as long as she did, was in knowing the condition was supposed to be terminal years ago, she had political aspirations to rise quickly to the seat of power she deemed as her’s.

It is a fact that more foreign leaders are aware of the Birther medical condition than in American government. No one in Congress is aware of these medical facts, but leaders such as Benjamin Netanyahu, Vladamir Putin and David Cameron with superior intelligence gathering know of the Obama condition.

The weakest point in this aneurysm will cause it when rupturing to “blow downward” at the brain stem.

This though is not B. Hussein’s only medical problem apparently in inquiry as if this hamburger clump of veins in the central brain was not enough. While Obama did not have cancer several years ago when the Drudge Report focused on the Obama weight loss. It was this weight loss which attempted to take pressure off of this cluster of bloated veins.

Obama has 3 other medical conditions which are of grave concern. Obama is a Type II diabetic. That is a food diabetic and the condition is weakening his veins and arteries compounding the other condition.
He is prone to stroke. He has cholesterol problems in the veins are constricting in his neck and cranial region.

He also interestingly suffers from a Sheik bin Laden type manifesting kidney problem. The smoking of cigarettes and marijuana in the heavy metals they include in inhaling have filled up his kidneys and they are under stress. Obama Chin is not under dialysis for this condition, but he is not a healthy individual.

That is enough of this in another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

Hi hapnHAL, and happy Memorial Day.

I read that Lame Cherry piece and didn’t know what to make of it; you beat me to posting it here.

I wonder if this is just conjecture on LC’s part, or are they on to something? If true, that would explain a lot of things…

  21. Mr. Bill,

I didn’t get to see Rolling Thunder either, though we got to see many out here in the valley on interstate 81 that were on their way. God bless them all. My generation WAS Vietnam. Many in my family served and one did not return.

God bless ALL veterens……….from all US wars. You are a special breed.
