“A federal judge today scheduled former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s sentencing for Dec. 6.
The disgraced former government was convicted last summer on sweeping corruption charges, including allegations he tried to sell the U.S. Senate seat left open by Barack Obama’s election as president..
U.S. District Judge James Zagel had originally scheduled Blagojevich’s sentencing for Oct. 6, but it was indefinitely postponed in part because the judge was then presiding over the trial of Blagojevich co-defendant William Cellini, a Springfield power broker who was convicted last week.
Prosecutors have not said yet what sentence they will seek for Blagojevich, but it is widely expected that they will ask for more than the 6½-year prison term being served by his predecessor, former Gov. George Ryan, for his 2006 corruption conviction.
U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeman Randall Samborn said that the sentencing could go into a second day if necessary.”

New Evidence Fast and Furious Was a Gun Control Plot

I didn’t realize until the blowup over Cain and sexual harassment, that Larry Sinclair does not have a Wikipedia entry. Apparently there’s been a ferocious deletion war going on over persons trying to submit a Sinclair entry. Obviously there are a bunch of Obot’s scrubbing everything that could damage Obama, and Sinclair’s is one of the most damaging stories Obama has to deal with.
Folks, it’s time to start working on Wikipedia and get the Larry Sinclair entry back up.

Mark Block is an absolute idiot (lest there was any doubt heretofore.)
Here are some things Mark Block obviously doesn’t know:
1.) Gloria Allred is the ORIGINAL “pit bull with lipstick.”
2.) Allred presently has at least two more women on speed dial who have been groped by Herman Cain, and is currently working hard to coax them into making public statements.
3.) Woman who have been sexually harassed or assaulted have a strong urge to prevent their attacker from treating other women the same way. They also have a powerful sense of sisterhood and mutual support.
4.) The very best way to get another of those reluctant victims to come forward is to attack, insult and denigrate the one who already has.
5.) We are going to see another accuser within the next day or two.
Of course, they’re all lying, and on the take. Or, as Rush Limbaugh charmingly says, “Her name is pronounced Buy a lick.” (SLURP SLURP) “Not rent a lick but buy a lick.” (MORE SLURPING NOISES.) External Link

I agree entirely. This is an amazingly dumb move on the part of the Cain campaign. There are some other reasons on top of the ones you’ve listed:
6) This is EXACTLY the step that Allred et al. will expect the Cain campaign to take. They expect an attack on the accuser, and I’m sure they’re ready for it. Over the next few days, we’ll see more accusers or more concrete evidence, which will make Cain look like a sleazeball, and that’ll be the end of Herman Cain.
7) Who on earth thinks it’s good political strategy to smear someone because they’ve declared bankruptcy? Do these guys even know the state of the economy right now?
(Incidentally, is it libelous to accuse someone of making false accusations for pay?)

If she was paid, then the money trail will inevitably lead someone somewhere and that will go a long way toward exonerating Cain.
If I were on Team Cain, though, I would be careful about how hard I pushed the idea that the only reason Bialek is out there is that she must have been paid off. If it turns out that she wasn’t, Cain will have to deal with the question of why else she might be willing to put herself out there.

Her story makes no sense upon even the most forgiving of scrutiny.
This woman seems like a low-life to me. If you reread a transcript of what she said, I find it quite odd that she wasn’t out of that car the minute Cain ALLEGEDLY put his hand up her leg. She’s been around the block a few times and should have recognized what that meant. Her story doesn’t add up. At the same time he ALLEGEDLY pulled her head downward toward…xxxx…. Tell me how anyone could do that while sitting next to her unless he was some type of contortionist. Why would she let him grab her head? Baloney! The whole story stinks.
Her character is what counts, and from what I’ve read of her past history she is pretty deficient in it. She’s unable to hold a job apparently, has filed for bankruptcy twice and is not your typical single mom.

“Marriage has been understood for millennia and across cultures as the union of one man and one woman,” the office said in a statement issued Feb. 23 after President Barack Obama instructed the Justice Department to stop defending the federal law passed by Congress and signed into law in 1996 by President Bill Clinton.
The Defense of Marriage Act says the federal government defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman and that no state must recognize a same-sex marriage from another state.
“The principal basis for today’s decision is that the president considers the law a form of impermissible sexual orientation discrimination,” the Office of General Counsel said.
In a Feb. 23 statement, Attorney General Eric Holder said that although the administration has defended the 1996 law in some federal courts, it will not continue to do so in cases pending in the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Unlike in the previous cases, said Holder, the 2nd Circuit “has no established or binding standard for how laws concerning sexual orientation should be treated.”
In response to the announcement, the National Organization for Marriage, which opposes same-sex marriage, called on Congress to “get lawyers in the courtroom who actually want to defend the law, and not please their powerful political special interests.”
“We have only begun to fight,” said Brian Brown, president of the organization. He also said that with Holder’s announcement, Obama “unilaterally” declared homosexuals “a protected class” under the Constitution and would effectively make a federal court decision on the law, “unreviewable by higher courts.”
While Obama favors repealing the law, Holder said he has supported defending it as constitutional if a state or local law meets the legal standard of having “a rational basis” for singling out people for different treatment based on sexual orientation.
But in the pending cases, Holder said, the administration “faces for the first time the question of whether laws regarding sexual orientation are subject to the more permissive standard of review or whether a more rigorous standard, under which laws targeting minority groups with a history of discrimination are viewed with suspicion by the courts, should apply.”
Obama “has concluded that given a number of factors, including a documented history of discrimination, classifications based on sexual orientation should be subject to a more heightened standard of scrutiny,” Holder’s statement said. He added that Obama has concluded that the law “as applied to legally married same-sex couples, fails to meet that standard and is therefore unconstitutional. Given that conclusion, the president has instructed the department not to defend the statute in such cases. I fully concur with the president’s determination.”
Holder went on to say that the legal landscape has changed since the law was passed, including with Supreme Court rulings overturning laws criminalizing homosexual conduct and the repeal by Congress of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
Unless Congress repeals the Defense of Marriage Act, or a final court ruling strikes it down, it will continue to remain in effect and the administration will continue to enforce it, Holder noted.
“But while both the wisdom and the legality of (the pertinent section of the law) will continue to be the subject of both extensive litigation and public debate, this administration will no longer assert its constitutionality in court,” Holder said.”
