“Dear Friend,
Last week, the Senate began debate on increasing our nation’s debt limit by $1.9 trillion. This would permit our total debt to climb to $14.3 trillion – the highest in our nation’s history. I will not support any measure to increase America’s debt. It is outrageous to consider shackling future generations with the impossibility of ever paying off such a sum.
American families must live within their budget, and the most reasonable way to stop adding to the debt is to stop Washington’s appetite for spending. The federal government, however, doesn’t understand what it means to cut spending and prioritize in order to keep our country solvent. Instead, the preferred answer is simply to raise the limit on how much debt is allowed. We will never see responsible and accountable government as long as this attitude prevails.
Did you know that China now holds some $800 billion of our debt? Japan holds another $750 billion. Oil exporting countries hold almost $200 billion. Is this the way we should be operating our government? Not in my opinion.
The way to deal with our current budgetary situation is to stop spending, plain and simple. My voting record is clear on this subject. And I will continue to vote against legislation that involves out-of-control expenditures and against irresponsible budgets.
Last Thursday, I co-sponsored an amendment with Senator John Thune that would have terminated the TARP program as a means to stop any future expenditure of funds not already spent. This bill would also have required any TARP repayments be used to pay down the national debt. This amendment received 53 votes in the Senate – including 13 Democrats. But, under Senate rules, 60 votes were required for its adoption, so it failed.
The Senate will resume debate on this legislation this week. You can rest assured that I will be fighting to stop this before we bankrupt America.

Offshore oil drilling — cleaner than Mother Nature

NEW YORK — Painfully high vehicle- and jet-fuel prices are propelling popular demands for extracting the estimated 18 billion barrels of petroleum that rest beneath America’s coastal waters.
After rescinding previous executive-branch objections, President Bush said July 14, “the only thing standing between the American people and these vast oil resources is action from the U.S. Congress.” Capitol Hill Democrats claim offshore drilling poses unacceptable ecological risks. This is yet another overblown worry.
Democrats and other environmental naysayers cite the 80,000 barrels that spilled six miles off of Santa Barbara, Calif., inundating beaches and aquatic life. This hydrocarbon Hindenburg haunts the memories of those who witnessed it.
But this genuine catastrophe occurred in January 1969 — nearly 40 years ago. That era’s drilling technology has gone the way of Flower Power and black-and-white TV. Innovation has boosted the safety and environmental reliability of offshore drilling.
The Santa Barbara spill accelerated oil companies’ efforts to prevent such disasters. Beyond compliance with 17 major permits and 90 different federal regulations, offshore operators frequently conduct accident training and safety exercises. Sensors and other instruments now help platform personnel monitor and handle temperatures and pressures of subsea oil, even as drill bits whirl.
Hurricanes are manageable, since oil lines are capped not at the surface, but at or beneath the ocean floor. Even if oil platforms snapped loose and blew away, industrial seals restrain potentially destructive petroleum hundreds or even thousands of feet below the waves. Thus, 3,050 offshore structures endured Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in August and September 2005 without environmentally damaging petroleum spills. While 168 platforms and 55 rigs were destroyed or seriously damaged, the oil they pumped remained safely entombed, thanks to heavy underwater machinery.
As the U.S. Minerals Management Service concluded, “due to the prompt evacuation and shut-in preparations made by operating and service personnel, there was no loss of life and no major oil spills attributed to either storm.”
“The technology of the drilling industry may have improved, but offshore drilling is a dirty business, and it still leads to oil spills due to failed equipment, aberrant weather, or human error on a frequent basis,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said in July 19’s Houston Chronicle.
Feinstein is correct. U.S. offshore oil drilling is not perfectly tidy. It’s only 99.999 percent clean. Indeed, since 1980 — as MMS figures indicate — 101,997 barrels spilled from among the 11.855 billion barrels of American oil extracted offshore. This is a 0.001 percent pollution rate. While offshore drilling is not 100 percent spotless, this record should satisfy all but the terminally fastidious.
Ironically, in terms of oil contamination, Mother Nature is 95 times dirtier than Man. Some 620,500 barrels of oil ooze organically from North America’s ocean floors each year. Compare this to the average 6,555 barrels that oil companies have spilled annually since 1998, according to MMS.
Thanks to Earth’s curvature, these operations can stay out of sight. Rep. John Peterson, R-Pa., proposes new drilling, but at least 50 miles offshore, well past the 12-miles beyond which the horizon hides oil equipment from the eyes of surfers and beachcombers.
Critics also dismiss offshore development since its benefits supposedly would take ages.
“You wouldn’t see any full production out of any oil drilling off the coasts until 2030,” presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama claimed June 20 in Jacksonville, Fla. The Illinois senator added: “It will take a generation to reach full production.”
Currently mired in red tape, Chevron’s Destin Dome field off Florida could produce within four years. Southern California deposits could yield within five to 10 years. Besides, as Confucius said: “The best time to plant a tree is 10 years ago. The second best time is now.”
America is like a vagrant who shakes a tin cup, pleads for change, and yet refuses to touch his $1 million trust fund. Before President Bush flies back to Saudi Arabia to beg sheiks to open their spigots, the United States should rely on our own offshore oil and gas. The fact we can do so more safely than ever leaves the Democratic Congress no excuse not to stand aside — now!

I don’t want to make a big deal of this because fundamentally it doesn’t matter if bin Laden is dead or alive. He has sufficient followers that will continue to represent him anyway.
However the link you posted was the same that I did, my point being that if you look closely at that photo it is not of bin Laden, not even a younger version.
I will also reiterate, dialysis is a serious end stage complication of kidney disease. It is a holding ground at best to keep people alive. Either you succumb to kidney disease or you successfully respond to a transplant. The average life span once on dialysis is 5 years and that IS with advanced medical equipment, not in the hills of Afghanistan, where medical equipment would be makeshift at best.

* Passed a fiscal year 2010 budget that raised non-defense discretionary spending by 12% at a time when American families and businesses are having to cut back their budgets.
* And, with jobs being lost and Americans deeply concerned about government spending and our economy’s future — the president actually decided his top priority was to try and spend trillions on a government health care takeover that would reduce patient choice, hurt the quality of our health care and create over 100 new government agencies with tens of thousands of new federal bureaucrats.
We’ve got to make sure the record of this president is brought before Americans this Wednesday night as he delivers his State of the Union speech, because this health care battle is not over.

I just found this transcript of a Greta interview on FoxNews. Winslow was Brown’s campaign Chief Counsel:
VAN SUSTEREN: When is he going to get sworn in?
WINSLOW: We’re still waiting to see. There’s a formal process, which is the certification of the results at the state level, followed by a swearing in ceremony. There’s an informal process where the Senate could simply by consent swear him in by waiving their internal rules and customs.
But for the time being, we believe the formal process is going to apply, and the earliest possible time that could be would likely be February 10th for the certification and thereafter for swearing in. So we are aiming for February 11th.
VAN SUSTEREN: Why is that? I take it that your secretary of state, who sent a letter on behalf of Congresswoman Tsongas before she was certified to the House, this is to the senate. Did the secretary of state from Massachusetts send a similar letter for Senator-elect Brown?
WINSLOW: Not just a similar letter, the identical letter. The state secretary went to bat the very next morning without even asking in writing his team, and he signed a report of the unofficial vote results, which right down to the secretary of the Senate that same morning.
You’re right, Congresswoman Tsongas sworn in 48 hours later. Actually Senator Kennedy when he was elected in a special election for this seat in 1962 was sworn in the next day. So it really depends on the formal or informal preferences of the bodies in power at that time.
VAN SUSTEREN: The letter has arrived in the United States Senate. Have they responded and said we are going to do like we did with other members or we’re going to think about it or we’re not going to do it. What is the response?
WINSLOW: Our understanding is the Senate has a rule, rule two, which requires the certification to be submitted, and that is still pending here in Massachusetts. And there’s a waiting period for vote tallies to be reported up from the local cities and towns to the state.
VAN SUSTEREN: What changed since Senator Kennedy — has that rule come into effect since Senator Kennedy was sworn in?
WINSLOW: I’m not sure, but at the end of the day the Senate could be by consent seat Senator-elect Brown whenever it chose to. In the absence of consent we have to go through the formal process, and that’s what we’re going through now.

Well that’s a whole new ball park. The black market for live organs first of all is a nightmare. But I don’t think someone the likes of bin Laden would have any trouble receiving a kidney. The advantage of kidney transplants is that people have 2 and can donate one quite readily without adverse effects. However there is the matter of organ rejection requiring immunosuppression. But for kidney recipients, kidney transplant is among the most successful of all transplants.
However I still don’t think bin Laden is alive. The fact that they have to resort to a look alike photo I think supports that.

Yes, probably has his entire life. But now it’s worse, because he has waited an entire lifetime for this chance and has subordinated everything to that end. I read somewhere that he had dreams of becoming president in elementary school.

Bernanke presided over the final phase of the $1.5 quadrillion financial derivatives bubble which is the central cause of the present world economic depression. He was the principal advocate for the reckless and irresponsible policy of bailing out bankrupt money center institutions, allowing them to live on as zombie banks at astronomical taxpayer, but with no corresponding benefit whatsoever for the economic life of the broader society. Bernanke is responsible for the super-toxic alphabet soup of Federal Reserve lending facilities like the TAF, the TALF, and so forth. These betrayals of the public trust have offered 0% credit to predatory institutions including Wall Street banks, insurance companies, credit card companies, money market funds, and other financial institutions. Bernanke has thus used public resources to subsidize financial speculation in all of its most destructive forums, while doing almost nothing to provide cheap credit for production that would benefit factories, farms, mines, building construction, small business, exports, scientific research, energy production, and infrastructure building. Economic activity in all of these fields is now dying for lack of credit, which is being denied by the very institutions Bernanke is trying to save. Everything that Bernanke has done is diametrically opposed to the rational credit policy needed to fight an economic depression.
Bernanke must therefore be rejected. Instead, the Senate should support a new Fed chairman with the qualifications necessary to preside over the nationalization of this illegal, unconstitutional, and failed institution. The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 must be repealed. The future of the Fed is as a bureau of the United States Treasury responsible for providing cheap federal lending as a public utility for productive activity in the form of tangible physical commodity output, not speculation and financial services. In the future, the size of the money supply, short-term interest rates, and the approved categories of lending must be taken out of the hands of unelected and unaccountable cliques of predatory bankers, and deliberated in the full glare of publicity by the House, the Senate, and the president, as the United States Constitution actually requires. Because of Bernanke’s pattern of subservience to Wall Street interests, it is clear that he cannot be the official suited to to carry out this historic transition. Worse, reports concerning telephone calls made by Treasury Secretary Geithner in September 2008 suggest that Bernanke may also be a party to illegal operations by the Fed in regard to the bailout of AIG and its derivatives counterparties at that time. It is unthinkable that the Senate would approve Bernanke unless and until these grave suspicions have been cleared up.
Today’s newspapers suggest that Bernanke, even if he should be rejected by the Senate this week, would still attempt to stay in power as a member of the Board of Governors through 2020, exerting his power through his colleagues presently on the board. This would amount to nothing less than a bankers’ insurrection. In this eventuality, the Congress must swiftly impeach Bernanke and remove him from office immediately.
Our government preaches to other countries re: free and fair elections. It would have been one thing if the people of the United States of America were advised before the election that Obama was ineligible-some may have voted for him anyway. This information was purposefully withheld from the general public, in many cases those who attempted to inform were threatened.
The United States did not have a free and fair election according to this article, therefore our country should do the world a favor and stay out of their elections, until they are able to get our own countries elections back to free and fair.

Today January 25, 2010 I returned to Social Security as instructed on 1-11-10. This morning Supervisor Lucy Cruz admitted that Social Security LIED in their letter dated January 8, 2010 and that SSA Employee Boothe LIED to my face during our meeting on 1-11-10.
Mrs. Cruz also admitted that I am being investigated based on “agency information” and that SSA will not provide me with any info as to what the allegations made are nor who made them. This is America where the accused has the right to know what they are accused of and by whom.

PUMA stands for “People United Means Action”, which sums up the grassroots movement that emerged after the DNC’s Rules & Bylaws Committee met on May 31st, 2008 and essentially awarded the nomination to Obama, despite the clear will of the voters. On many public appearances it seemed to me Barry, the fraud, was as high as a kite. Knowing he was using cocaine as late as 1995–that we can establish–knowing cocaine flows like water in the Chicago party people–I can not help wonder if he is still using cocaine.
He’s lost weight. There are dark circles under his eyes and the lines in his face have deepened. I first began to suspect him when he was laughing on one of his interviews early on and the interviewer asked him if was “punch drunk”.
