Tony Rezko sentencing delayed again until November 22, 2011, October 3, 2011 hearing, Rezko sentenced after Cellini trial

“Why was Tony Rezko’s sentencing delayed?”…Citizen Wells

From the Chicago SunTimes October 3, 2011.

“Sentencing delayed — again — for Tony Rezko”

“A federal judge in Chicago has again delayed the sentencing of convicted political fixer Tony Rezko, the onetime top adviser to and campaign fund-raiser for ousted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve agreed Monday to a request by prosecutors to delay Rezko’s sentencing — which was most recently set for Oct. 21 — until Nov. 22 so the sentencing doesn’t interfere with the trial of Springfield businessman and longtime political power broker William Cellini.”

  2. The Secret Memo That Explains Why Obama Can Kill Americans

The Obama administration insists on keeping secret – classified – the legal reasoning the DOJ used to authorize the killing of al-Awlaki. The public is not allowed to read, mull over, or challenge the secret memo.

    (excerpt)
Obama hasn’t just set a new precedent about killing Americans without due process. He has done so in a way that deliberately shields from public view the precise nature of the important precedent he has set. It’s time for the president who promised to create “a White House that’s more transparent and accountable than anything we’ve seen before” to release the DOJ memo.

Let’s not forget that the left went nuts over waterboarding and the lawyers in bush’s justice dept that wrote the opinion have been disowned and shunned by other lawyers.

We’ll see if obama and his lawyers get the same treatment.
Of course we already know the answer to that.
They didn’t care at all about waterboarding. All they cared about was “get bush”!

  4. yo, how true about the Bush Derangement Syndrome! The crazy part is that this “ailment” still continues in full force even after three years of O.

  8. America Assassinates Its Own People and We Don’t Care

    (excerpt)
I want to be clear. I am NOT defending Anwar al-Awlaki. Based on what we have been told about him being an al Qeada leader and a terrorist intent on murdering American citizens he deserved the death penalty. What I am pointing out is the danger of acting like liberals in eroding the limits the Constitution places on our Federal government. Conservatives are praising the actions of a corrupt government because we are ok with taking this scumbag out, yet when liberals do the same in the name of their causes we scream foul.

For a government that couldn’t outlaw alcohol without a Constitutional Amendment, we sure do allow it to do some pretty heinous things all in the name of “national security.” What happens when political opponents are targeted in the name of “national security” and assassinated because they are homegrown terrorists? What if TEA Partiers are labelled as enemy combatants against the United States?
The dangerous precedent this assassination has created is very real.

  11. “Shock Photos: Candidate Obama Appeared And Marched With New Black Panther Party in 2007”
    by Andrew Breitbart

“Tomorrow, J. Christian Adams, the Department of Justice whistleblower in the New Black Panther Party case, will release his new book, Injustice: Exposing the Racial Agenda of the Obama Justice Department (Regnery).

Obama seems not to be reviled by the Panthers in any of the video or photographs. And Obama’s own campaign website would post an endorsement by the New Black Panther Party in March 2008. As Adams writes in Injustice:

Somehow, the fact that the future President of the United States shared a podium with leaders of the New Black Panthers, marched with them, and received a public, formal greeting from their party has vanished from the history of Obama’s campaign. Apart from [Juan] Williams’ single dispatch, no other media outlets ever reported it.”

  12. Obama Admits He Is an Underdog

ABC News George Stephanopoulos interviewed Obama today. Obama freely called himself an “underdog” and admits that the bad economy is going to impair his chances of winning in 2012.

He concedes that the American people are “not better off” than they were four years ago.

Comment: It has been suggested that Obama may do a “Carter” and end up not running in 2012. What would happen if he waited until late in the summer to make that announcement, and the Dems would say they didn’t have time to properly get a candidate in place? This is pure conjecture, of course, but what if the “nice” RINOS would postpone the elections to show “good faith” to the Dems? Could this ever happen?

  13. Cabby..Carter ran for a second term. It was LBJ that didn’t run again. Also, this Perry hunting camp business surely would have ended any chances in the general election if it had come out later rather than now. We need to vet these candidates, even if we support them, as we can’t afford any surprises next year.

  16. This is Obama’s Commissioner of Social Security, as described by Orly Taitz in her latest filing.

What judge wouldn’t want to hear about this fraud?

For Michael Astrue, a licensed attorney, Commissioner of Social Security Administration; for the US attorneys, representing him, to even suggest, that there is no “legitimate public interest” in knowing whether we have a criminal in the White House with a fraudulently obtained Social Security number, is simply unthinkable, it represents a total lack of allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, that they were sworn to protect. This behavior by the Commissioner of the Social Security administration and US attorneys representing him, is simply criminal, it simply amounts to obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting Social Security fraud and possibly treason against the United States of America. If this is not an emergency, what is, if there is no public interest in knowing, whether we have a criminal in the White House, when is there a public interest? Can there be a more dire emergency? We have a breach of the national security in the highest office in the land, and our Department of Justice does not grasp that this is an emergency?

  17. Is Congress Refusing to Stop the Obama Syndicate Crimes?

FROM “PATENTLY ILLEGAL AND TREASONOUS ACTIVITIES”

    by Sher Zieve, ©2011

How many unconstitutional actions has Obama taken against the American people? Does he show respect for anything American? Is he himself an American or a foreigner?

(Oct. 3, 2011) — With all of its pretense of sending open letters to Obama pleading with him to stop his illegal and Congressional bypassing behaviors, Congress patently refuses to stop Dictator-in-Chief Obama from destroying the United States of America and enslaving its people. The latest “plea” that prompted this column is the 26 September 2011 Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) begging letter to the US “dear leader.” In it, Grassley begins:

    “Dear Mr. President:

“We write to express serious concern about your immigration policies and ask that you require the Department of Homeland Security to overturn recent directives regarding the increased use of prosecutorial discretion. We also request that the Administration halt any initiative, whether through regulation or otherwise, that circumvents Congress or aims to ensure that illegal immigrants are afforded every possibility to remain in this country.

Thanks so much for the correction, Paxson. (It is hard to keep all of the scoundrels straight. 🙂 ) Do you see the possibility of a sinister outcome here?

  19. Americans killed each other in the civil war. You can kill Americans if they go against America.

  20. Tina, the Civil War was probably the darkest period of American history. The very survival of the Union was at stake. That was a declared war.

We are talking about something entirely different here. When you say “You can kill Americans if they go against America”, that leaves me rather cold. We see people going against America all of the time, but that doesn’t give you or me the right to kill them. That would be murder; and the alleged murderer, if an American citizen, is constitutionally assured of due process, including a trial, and is deemed to be innocent until proven guilty of the charges.

When it comes to a terrorist who is an American citizen (with al Awlaki, I understand that he was dishonest at one point when he came back to America and said that he was born in Yemen), don’t we have a right to know the exact charges leveled against him? Do you trust the Obama administration enough to believe that this same type of killing would never take place right here in America against those whom they consider a threat? For example – Tea Partiers?

I find it very peculiar that the same administration that opposes waterboarding of terrorists approves of killing them whether they are American citizens, or not. There is just too much fuzzy thinking in this matter, imho.

  21. No Tina. You can’t just kill someone for going against America.

  22. Interested Bystander

    Hey All,

I have a problem with assassinating people in general.

I have no problem with how this administration claims they took out Bin Laden because they were trying to capture him and during the “raid” they came upon opposition forces.

I do however have a problem with our Government picking and choosing who is “good” and who is “bad”.

For example, the administration says they have emails back and forth between the underware bomber and this “dude”.

So where are these emails? When asked to present them, the administration (who if I recall correctly claimed they would be the most “transparent” administration in history) now claims that they can’t let the public see the evidence they used to come to the conclusion that this “dude” was a bad guy.

Let’s see the information. Present the evidence to the American people and let us see how you came to this conclusion.

In my view a conservative administration could conclude that Obama’s “ex” pastor was “going against America” by stating that the “chickens have come home to roost”, and if Wright decided to travel abroad, that would give the Government the opportunity to take him out with a predator, if and only if you have the opinion it is alright to take American citizens out for being “bad”.

Or how about if you went to France, and needed directions to someplace and stopped a random person to ask for directions, and that person turned out to be a known terrorist sympathiser, and with a satalite picture of you asking directions from this sympathiser, the Government concludes you are also a sympathiser and determines that you are “bad” and kills you using a drone.

I DO believe Anwar al-Awlaki was linked to terrorists, and I don’t shed a tear or feel bad that he has gone to his “virgins”.

I do however, have a pretty big issue with our Government picking and choosing who and where they can assassinate people without presenting the evidence they used to believe that this was the best thing to do.

    Just my opinion.

    Hey All,

I also think it is VERY hypocritical of this administration claiming that enemy combatants caught on the battlefield deserve due process in our Courts, but they also believe that it is ok to be judge, jury and executioner whenever they see fit.

Here’s a sure fire way to close Gitmo.

Set up about 50 speedboats right by the compound and allow all of the “detainees” to take off in them.

Then it would be drone practice heaven, if you know what I mean.

    No courtrooms needed, problem solved.

    Hey All,

One last thing and then I’ll sit back down…………

Maybe it’s just me, but it sure has been nice the last few days not having to scroll past comments by a “certain someone” who will go unnamed.

Maybe that article linked a few threads back hit a little too close to home for that “certain someone”.

Thanks to whoever posted that link, very interesting article about our resident “new” conservative.

  25. Enemy combatants, US Citizins or not, can be killed. I have more than a few lawyers and military people in my family who will argue the point. Now, have I noticed that folks on this site want to criticize Obama just to criticize him? Yes. I’m no fan of Obama, but I do applaud the killing of terrorists. I don’t think OB would have done it on his own. I think his cabinet had to prod him into doing it. Now do I understand that Obama or others may target the Tea Party? But Obama, in my opinion, will circumvent the US Constitution, so it doesn’t matter what it is, that won’t help anyone. He is vindictive and small minded, in my opinion.

  26. The sad thing is that it really doesn’t matter what the US Constitution says at the moment as OB can do what he wants, it seems to me. The MSM, the police in this country, the Democratic controlled Senate and the US Supreme Court don’t care, and neither, I am sorry, does the Tea Party. No one is challenging him on his eligibility or anything else. All our candidates won’t even bring his ineligibility up. Have we heard about it in one debate? No. So everyone is enabling him, in my opinion. I understand it may be the opinion of our Tea Party leaders and GOP leaders that it’s not worth brining up his ineligibility now when he’s vulnerable in this upcoming election, but we’re still enabling him.

  27. @ Tina | October 4, 2011 at 7:28 am |
This case goes to the core question, does mere birth on our soil equal allegiance to the US ?

Did al-Awlaki ever have allegiance to the US?

This gent was no more an American than Osama Bin Laden.

[Here are the most prominent dates in the life of al-Awlaki:
    – April 22, 1971, born in New Mexico to Yemeni parents.
    – In 1978, family returns to Yemen where father serves as agriculture minister, professor at Sanaa University.]

  30. Mr. Bill(ms. helga)

PS – Has anyone seen this story in the MSM??

  31. Mr. Bill(ms. helga)

PPS -That’s alright because today the stock market could break the 9000 barrier and the mobs congregating around the country may just start to riot.

  32. Mr. Bill(ms. helga)

AND the mob wants the USURPER to remain as President.

  33. Tina, I am not trying to dry your thirst for blood, but who decides which Americans are enemy combatants?

  34. It is self defense, Paxson, and while I agree it is an interesting question to ask, and people should be aware of the US Constitution, Americans at war with America have been killed as enemy combatants since the time of the American Revolution. I wouldn’t waste any more words over the death of this terrorist and whether or not he was loyal to America as a citizen. He clearly was not.

  35. It’s the HYPOCRISY Tina…and the way I look at it is they’re (the government) acting as “jude, jury & executioner” all as the same unit against an American citizen…Personally, I have issue’s with this type of execution/mob hit/ act of war, what ever you want to call it, I can’t stop playing the “what if” game in my head…Like “what if” this guy had knowlege of a future terrorist act against our country? “What if” he was deep under-cover for our country or one of our allies? There are a lot of “what if’s” that can only be answered when someone is arrested and processed… AND when you shoot someone in this fashion it puts you entire “water bording/torture” argument out the window….It’s like a crack-addict calling someone who has a glass of wine with dinner a “drunk” or a “boozer”…It’s the hypocrisy and the press/media making it o.k. because it was Obama who did it…I can’t even imagine what they would have done had it been Bush???????

  36. I meant to say Judge not jude….that was a typo…sorry.

  37. I’m not saying he was a good guy. You said they have the right to kill Americans who are against the US. Who decides? In addition, we are not at war with Yemen. Enemy combatant does not apply.

  38. They would love to call Tea Party and anti abortion activists “enemies of America”. Who decides? Forget about this one individual for a moment.

  39. It can be easily argued that we are on one very slippery slope if it is okay to ignore the Constitution. Forget the emotions; think about the long-term, unwanted consequences.

  40. Cabby. Exactly!
