“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows.”…George Orwell, “1984″

Had a bad experience at Office Depot this morning.

Guess they forgot about BlockBusters.

Box stores are on the way out.

I needed 1 package of printer/fax paper.

The sign said 2 for $ 12 with no stipulations or additional terms.

That means the price is $ 6 each.

There was no must buy 2 at the product or sign in front of the cash register.

I walked right back in the store when I noticed I was overcharged.

The same cashier didn’t get it nor did anyone of the young people working there.

It is not their fault (although it is troubling they don’t get it).

All problems are management problems.

I got my money back and was not happy wasting my time and being disrepected.

I stopped by Walgreens next for another planned purchase which went well.

I didn’t notice any paper during my walk through their aisles.

When checking out, I mentioned that to the cashier who then walked a short distance to reveal some.

I paid less than the Office Depot “sale price” and much less than the regular price.

Office Depot gets a grade of F.

Walgreens gets an A+.

Buyer beware.

Office Depot picked the wrong customer to try to rip off.

I spent 10’s of thousands of dollars there over the years for my customers and myself.

  1. Office Depot:
    Buh Bye

  2. I am a very good shopper….have been stocking on food and other supplies since 2008. I learned to ask before I select the amount of item I buy –like 10 for $10. Lots of stores don’t give the $1 each if you buy less than 1o.
Krogers and Meijers are two where I ask.

  3. JayJay……….
…………you’re absolutely correct. That has been going on for quite a while here in my city. If you only want one rather than 10 you pay a regular unit retail price. A lot of people don’t even pay any attention to it either, and they end up paying FULL price for the item. Yep Meijers, and Kroger are great actors in that little game. Fortunately we have a SAV-A-LOT store near by. My wife has been making some of our grocery purchases there. We also sometimes visit one of our local Aldi’s stores also. We find at both entities you can buy all you want at the sale price. We stopped going to Meijers, and that was one of the reasons.

  4. YEP, I used to really enjoy going to the store, and looking for bargains. Unfortunately my neuropathy, and pulmonary condition has brought my store visits to a screeching halt. I taught my wife how to look for store bargains. These days there aren’t very many bargains to be found anywhere!!!!!

  5. During the summer season we still buy some of our veggies, and fruits from a Amish grower. We do this because we enjoy the short ride to his farm and back. We have been doing this for several years…….very pleasant!!!

  6. BUT,
…….Covid 19 has drastically curtailed us from even leaving the house. I have been wondering if we might someday have to wear a full HAZ MAT suit, and RE BREATHER just to go out to our mail box. I mistakenly wore my mask outside last week and the neighbor’s dog went ape crap barking at me. Sort of cracked me up.!!!!!

  7. For what it’s worth, I’ve been on to Walgreens’ 2 for 2.22 or 1 for 1.79 deals for a while, but only recently aware of Harris Teeter’s truly half off deals when BOGO. Small victories!
