NC May unemployment rate worse than reported by North Carolina newspapers, June 21, 2013 articles, Drop in labor force not stated, 1 percent labor force drop in 4 months

“If I had my choice I would kill every reporter in the world but I am sure we would be getting reports from hell before breakfast.”… William Tecumseh Sherman

“The function of the press is very high. It is almost Holy.
It ought to serve as a forum for the people, through which
the people may know freely what is going on. To misstate or
suppress the news is a breach of trust.”…. Louis D. Brandeis

“the Times of the nineteenth of December had published the official forecasts of the output of various classes of consumption goods in the fourth quarter of 1983, which was also the sixth quarter of the Ninth Three-Year Plan. Today’s issue contained a statement of the actual output, from which it appeared that the forecasts were in every instance grossly wrong. Winston’s job was to rectify the original figures by making them agree with the later ones.”…George Orwell, “1984”

To fix a problem you must:

Be aware of the problem.

Understand the problem.

That is why the underreporting and misrepresentation of the unemployment rate in the US and NC must be exposed.

The NC Labor Force Participation Rate dropped 1 percent from January to May 2013.

From Citizen Wells June 23, 2013.

“The Greensboro News Record on Friday June 21, 2013 regurgitated an AP report about the May unemployment rate in NC. The report was misleading and dishonest.

“NC jobless rate falls to 8.8 percent in May”

“North Carolina’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.8 percent in May from April’s revised rate of 8.9 percent, marking the fourth straight month of slow improvement in the measure of economic health for workers, the state Commerce Department said Friday.”

“Now I’m not a rocket scientist, but I can read.

So I went to the NC labor data website and found that the labor force participation rate in NC fell .1 percent in May. That fully accounted for the .1 percent drop in the unemployment rate.

Can’t the folks at the News Record or the AP read?”

From Citizen Wells May 19, 2013.

“The Associated Press has always been a problem. A member “news” organization creates a report and it is regurgitated across the nation & world, in most cases without fact checking.

We have another example recently from the Greensboro News Record.

Is this because the Rhino Times just shut down?

Or because John Coleman, an economics professor at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business was quoted?

From the Greensboro News Record May 17, 2013.

“North Carolina unemployment rate drops 8.9 percent”

“North Carolina’s unemployment rate fell to 8.9 percent in April _ the lowest in the state in four years.

The state’s unemployment rate was 9.2 percent in March.

“This is very encouraging for North Carolina,” said John Coleman, economics professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.”

I decided to check the reporting of the NC unemployment rate for May in other NC newspapers.

The Raleigh News Observer had the most accurate report.

“North Carolina’s unemployment rate fell for the fourth consecutive month in May to 8.8 percent, but the slight drop was largely due to a shrinking labor force rather than the creation of new jobs, economists said.”

Read more:
Most of the other newspapers that I checked regurgitated the same AP article.
The 1 percent drop in the Labor Force Participation Rate in NC essentially means that the unemployment rate is 9.8 and not 8.8 percent. That also is an increase of .3 from the January 2013 rate of 9.5 percent.

    Good Morning CW…….
Regarding the NC unemployment!…….In comparison with Indiana we are still setting in the neighborhood of 7.5%.In spite of being a heavily industrialised state it has been stubbornly hanging at the 7.5 for some time. In normal economic times we see a varying 4-5 %.I am not sure of the amount of industry in NC,but it would seem to me that NC too would see something around 4-5 as well. This is alltelling as to the overall financial condition of our country. I have read that the overall unemployment is still over 7.5% nationally I personally believe that it is going to require several years , if then for any meaningful recovery to begin.

  3. oldsailor81

My son still has three employees laid off. He was telling me last week that his business flow has been the thinnest he has seen it for several years. He operates a commercial lithographic printing business. At present he has only one employee remaining. Yet he is still in the black.

  4. oldsailor81

In Fort Wayne the commercial printing industry has for some unknown reason the ability to hang on for long dry spells. This is not only with regard to the present but this history goes back to the turn of the century. I think that it is tied to the industrial block. Even though business contracts, there seems to be enough business remaining to keep the bigger players alive….but they all do lose a lot of weight during the lean times.

  5. The UNEMPLOYMENT GAME is just a NUMBERS GAME and the government is the only one with a pencil….The Department of Labor will say whatever Obama tells them to say and report the same way.

When you live in 1984, a truth is a lie… and a lie is the truth…

I t5hink CW has it correct, if the TRUTH was known, our national unemployment rate would be outrageously high…maybe 17% or higher.

  6. oldsailor81

Beware of the silver and gold market. It WAS ok to hedge your financial bets on gold, but pay close attention to what is happening OUTSIDE of the gold market which inversely effect the Gold prices. Rapid price increases,or decreases can wreak havoc with an investment in precious metals.I personall did not buy any gold after it hit $700.00. I liquidated about 50% at $1300.00

  7. oldsailor81

    RMINNC………Good morning sir.
There are some states that I believe are going to get much worse before they ever improve the economic conditions, one of these states is Michigan, and another is California, and a third is New York. California and New York are both so radically PHONEY,that they have long since lost touch with reality. Michigan ,particulary the Detroit area is becoming infested with Islamic FLEAS. Certain areas of Detroit now look like Mexico. I look for Chrysler to close it’s Hamtramik plant within the next two years. This is the infamousJefferson plant where a lot of the Sherman tanks were built during WW2.

  8. Left Loses Big in Citizenship-Verification Supreme Court Case
    by J. Christian Adams

A Chicago man is charged with the murder of an Italian immigrant whose final act was to confront the gunman in order to protect his wife, police said.

According to police, Matthew Brown-Turner entered a pizzeria owned by Giovanni Donancricchia after closing time Thursday night and confronted his wife, Angela.

Giovanni reportedly saw Brown-Turner enter through a back door and followed him to the counter area where Angela was working,

64-year-old Giovanni then physically confronted the 23-year-old when he saw he had a gun, allowing Angela time to escape, police said.

After following his wife out, Donancricchia then returned to confront Brown-Turner again, and was shot once in the chest.

The gunmen reportedly then fled on foot.

A witness who knows Brown-Turner told police Thursday that he saw a report on the news and identified him as the suspect. Police set up surveillance near an address provided by the witness and took Brown-Turner into custody early Friday.

The couple’s son, Saverio told that his father came to Chicago from Sicily in 1968 at age 19, and had always wanted to start a restaurant. Saverio said his father worked odd jobs until he had enough money to buy a pizzeria of his own.

“Giovanni Donancricchia was a real hero,” Ray Hanania, a town spokesman said in a statement. “With a disregard for the threat the killer posed to him, he ushered his wife out of the restaurant and harm’s way, which saved her,” Hanania said.

Brown-Turner was scheduled to appear at a hearing Saturday. He is charged with three counts of murder and one count of attempt armed robbery.
Here is another case of blacks murdering and robbing innocent whites.

But your won’t here any outcry from Marxist Obama’s Marxist media. They’re only interested in creating trumped up murder charges against George Zimmerman when all he was doing was trying to protect himself from being murdered by Travon Martin.

Marxist Obama says he wants to stop gun violence by taking guns away from law abiding American citizens. A good place to start would be to take the guns away from the criminal element in Chicago. If he really wants to stop gun violence, he should read the following accurate American crime rates and take guns away from the criminal blacks:

    Crime Rates in America:

1.Blacks are SEVEN times more likely than people of other races to commit murder, and EIGHT times more likely to commit robbery.

2.When blacks commit crimes of violence, they are nearly THREE times more likely than non-blacks to use a gun, and more than TWICE as likely to use a knife.

3.Blacks make up only 12% of America’s population, but commit 85% of the crimes. The population of the nationals prisons also bare this out stat out too.

4.Hispanics commit violent crimes at roughly THREE times the white rate, and Asians commit violent crimes at about one quarter the white rate.

5.The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of the population that is black and Hispanic.
Figures don’t lie…but lier’s figure…..until we face these facts and act accordingly, nothing will change concerning crime in America.

Now if the publication of these facts makes me a racist….then so be it.

  10. Good morning Oldsailor81…my friend in Indiana ..

.I hope things are well with you today….you said; “There are some states that I believe are going to get much worse before they ever improve the economic conditions, one of these states is Michigan, and another is California, and a third is New York”

I agree with you…..if the people of America knew just how bad things were in the US….perhaps they would “March on Washington”…….but we have a nation of sheeple now…I doubt they would even utter a cry….

Snowdon makes off with 4 laptops fukl of NSA ‘secrets”….Obama was fully linvestigatedby the NSA in 2004 when he was just a Chicago hustler (state senator)…..

Snowdon goes to Hong Kong…the US makes a feeble attempt…the US fails to revoke his passport to get him back…Hong Kong says the paper work is “incorrect”…the US fails to revoke his passport…Snowdon flees to Russia…… the US justice department says that its furious and demands Russia hand over the “traitor”….Russia ignores the request…..Snowdon supposedly books a flight to Cuba using his American passport that the Justice Department failed to revoke…….Russia says that Snowdon was not on the plane……

Snowdon supposedly has ultra-top secrets in those 4 laptops in his possession…yet I haven’t read of a single top secret document leaked to anyone……

What is AMAZING is that Snowdon has not leaked a single piece of information about OBAMA….NADA, ZILCH, NOTHING …Now I wonder why?

This whole Snowdon thing is beginning to smell like rotten fish because:

    1. How does someone with out even a high school education get a job like this to begin with?

    2. What company is stupid enough to pay a high school dropout $200,000 dollars a year to play on a computer?

    3. How does someone walk out of a secure facility with 4 laptops without someone else asking some very tough questions, like “where the hell are you going with four of our computers full of NSA “secrets”?

    4. When it became known that Snowdon was in Hong Kong, why didn’t the State Department immediately revoke his passport?

    5. Why did Snowdon go to Russia? Was it because Obama promised Putin that he would have more flexability after the election? Is Snowdon a part of that flexability he promised?

6.Was Snowdon just a “messanger boy” delivering on the promise Obama made to Putin? My money says, “yes”.

    7. If Snowdon was truly interested in righting the wrongs in “his country”, why hasn’t he released any information on the biggest problem America has…the illegal president?…

8 .I’m sure out of 4 laptops full of NSA information, we could find Obama’s REAL idenity, his college records (or lack thereof), and lots of other criminal activity by the USURPER. But nothing has come forward,,,,

    9. I’m sure John Brennan couldn’t possibly have scrubbed all of Obama’s dirty laundry clean !

10 .Finally, since the time this “spy caper” occurred, Mr. Obama has not said very much about the “stealing of America’s foremost secrets”…Now isn’t that puzzling?

    11. Obama has talked about climate warming, immigration, his new cabinet appointments, his African vacation, how bad the Catholic run educational syste is, and damn near anything else….and the media laps it up like hungry dogs……..but NADA, ZILCH, NOTHING on the lose of our nations top secrets held by the NSA. WHY? WHY? WHY?
Putting the pieces of this puzzle together, I have decided that this is another game which was hatched within the walls of the White House.

Put your thinking cap on for just a moment…. Wouldn’t this be a great way to get information to Putin and China without having to take the heat as a traitor?….Who could blame Obama because NSA can’t control their “contract workers”?….Let’s see who’s head rolls because of this security breech….Most likely a janitor, for not stopping Snowdon as he left the building with the 4 laptops under the smiling watchful eyes of the security guards and supervisor on duty.

When firm provable information comes out from Snowdon about Obama, then I will change my position. Until then…..

This is my position, and I’m sticking to it.

  14. Sorry for the typos…but I’m sure everyone understands what I’m saying.

PLEASE don’t call the WORD POLICE on me…I promise to do better in the future.

  17. Mornin’ folks. As to the Snowden issue, he seems like a whistle blower to me. He is playing the role of Emmanuel Goldstein right now. NSA, the CIA, FBI, etc.–they’re all out of control. The Federal government is out of control.

  18. My view: Trump is trying to redeem himself with the Washington elites (for his previous birtherism), to which elites FOX News belongs as well. They all seem evil to me–liars, fabricators, dissimulators of falsehood.

  19. RM @1:16

    Respectfully, I disagree.

As far as #1 and #2, I have relatives who dropped out of highschool, later got their GED, then received higher education and have good jobs.

I have a question about #3, (4 computers taken). Was that reported by the Gaurdian, or a different source?

    Don’t know about #4.

#5 and #6? Putin has recently made Obama look very weak. Obama, being the narcissist that he is, I’m sure would not agree to his messiahhood being tarnished further, (though I could be wrong). I think his facade is crumbling worldwide, and he looks like a clown.

#7 and #8, there is no way of knowing if Snowden was aware of Obama being illegal. Also, refer to my question about #3.

    Don’t know about #9.

#10 and #11 is because Snowden has embarrassed him, and he wishes to change the subject.

This whole ordeal has caused big government to become feared and hated by both liberals and conservatives. Why would “Mr. Big Government” personified, do this on purpose? Why would the elitest politicians on both sides be calling for his head? Why is the news media (including Fox) falling in lockstep and calling him traitor, this after their own reporters were targeted by the Justice Dept. with wire taps?

I agree with you that something smells! I don’t agree on what it is. You smell rotten fish. I smell the poo after the cat ate the rotten fish.

  20. I suppose we could debate for hours on the Snowden situation, and until we have more information of exactly what Snowden is up to….we will never know the real truth….we do know that the information he has will be unsetting to a lot of politicians, if it is every published….Time will tell….

But after watching the below video…I think we have bigger fish to fry…..

  21. This is what they are doing to you and your family, and this is how they do it . Docs/nasa-thefutureof-war.pdf

  22. About Snowden’s “disqualifying” education…..some sources have said that due to illness he missed so much of his classes that he decided that it would be practical for him to just get his GED which he did.
“Mr Snowden said that his son was not a high school drop-out as has been reported but had missed several months of teaching because he was ill during his sophomore year. He completed his high school equivalency at a community college.”

At least half of “the nation’s workers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math don’t have or need a bachelor’s degree. They do their work with an associate’s degree or even just on-the-job training.” This is probably the wave of the future for what is necessary for education for the purpose of jobs. He took some Community College courses in computer science. It almost sounds like he dabbled in various courses and in the military training to be Special Forces (4 months or so I believe) just to get a basic idea of what that entailed; basic info….perhaps just to see how things work.

‘One of the biggest and fastest-growing non-college STEM jobs, which comes pretty darn close to describing Snowden’s former position, is computer systems analyst, a position that earns an average of more than $82,000 a year and is growing 22% over this decade. The Department of Labor notes that a bachelor’s degree is “not always a requirement” for this job, as long as you “know how to write computer programs.”‘

During the war due to the need for cartographers they just took people with artistic ability or ability to draw off the streets (back then hand drawn) and trained them. There were still these types into the ’80s earning well and with top secret clearances.

So frankly, this guy Snowden perhaps could see the practical end of things….and just what qualifications were necessary to actually do this type of work without wasting time and money for worthless courses and degrees.

At this point however who really knows all the details about this guy….not much real info and a lot of disinformation. Time will tell. So far nothing has been reported of any particularly damaging info given while, behind that veil of secrecy, it is generally stated that a lot of damage has been done to National Security. More damage to us than Chinese hacking that’s gone pretty much unpunished? Meanwhile, due to all this, we have learned that FISA just about approves any seeking of permission to spy on citizens and we’ve learned about the trading of info between our gov. and those to whom the general public has given over all kinds of private info. We’ve seen lies and incompetence or just plain intentional misleading by the heads of NSA and FBI….and of course the IRS as well. And we’ve seen the threats that are now common against whistle blowers in general. Just as in abortion legislation…”for the health of the mother”….it’s become “for the sake of national security”.

  23. @RMinNC……that is about the scariest video I’ve seen so far, but I think a lot of us have wondered about what awful things they’ve been doing to us for a long time. We’ve all heard about the chem trails and smart meters as well as the HAARP that can control our climate (poss. can cause earthquakes?, tsunamis?), etc., so there’s that uneasy feeling deep down inside that quietly asks, “What else are they doing to us?” Thanks for the video…..I’ll pass it on.

  24. Thanks for pointing out, Observer, the info re. Snowden’s GED. Some of these geeks are far more capable and intelligent than college educated ones.

SueQ, somehow I feel that the talking heads and PTB’s, “take” on Snowden says a lot about who they really are. Snowden said he wouldn’t reveal anything that would put certain people at risk, and from what I’ve heard and read, he has revealed only the extent to which the NSA is violating the 4th Amendment. We the People are entitled to know that, and for the PTB’s to call that endangering national security is ludicrous, imho. It is merely a fig leaf to cover their back sides.

  25. Have you ever wondered why America has been in a CONSTANT state of war since the Korean war ended? We have and our objective has NEVER been to win anything… isn’t that odd?
This is a brief time line of our engagements since Korea:
    Vietnam- 1960-1972
    Lebanon- 1982
    Grenada- 1983
    Honduras- 1983-1989
    Libya- 1986
    Saudia Arabia-1990
    Bosnia- 1992-1996
    Somalia- 1992-1995
    Haiti- 1994-1995
    Iraq- 2003-2011
    Afghanistan- 2001- 2013
Mali / Somalia-2013 (in support of the French)

All of this with no clear cut objectives in mind…if you are interested in why the American policy now calls for a constant state of war…read The Iron Mountain Report….
Is this destined to be the future our grandchildren?

  26. One last point,

It is not to Obama’s advantage to look weak to the rest of the world, (yeah maybe it’s to his advantage to weaken the US, but not himself). This NSA/Snowden debacle exposed Obama for the dictator he is, and it clearly embarrassed him. The rest of the world is taking note. He has shamed our country, and he is the traitor…………not Snowden.

    URGENT: Whistle-blower comes forward…..

AP A whistle-blower from Higher Education Services Corporation in Albany New York came forward and advised Attorney Orly Taitz that she personally reviewed Barack Obama’s financial aid information

  28. far left lib nut job

SANTA ANA, Calif. – While Attorney Orly Taitzwas participating in a rally in front of the U.S. Capitol on June 19, a whistleblower from Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) in Albany, N.Y. approached her to say she personally reviewed the microfilm of President Barack Obama’s financial aid and it reveals he received financial aid as a foreign student and a citizen of Indonesia.

Taitz was provided the woman’s name, work and personal e-mail address, home andcell phone numbers and independently verified the whistleblower’s employment.

Further, Taitz learned that when Obama transferred from Occidental College to Columbia University, his financial aid would indeed be handled by HESC in Albany.

The whistleblower also advised Taitz that HESC’s policy is to retain microfilm of records in the company’s safe and said several HESC employees made copies of the microfilm in the event management decides to destroy the evidence.

According to Taitz, the whistleblower came forward because she is concerned about fraud being committed and Obama, being a citizen of Indonesia, was never eligible to be president of the United States.

The information was submitted by Taitz to Division Three of the Fourth Appellate District Court of Appeal in California, noting the new information is of important and urgent public concern and weighs in favor of granting her appeal in the case of Taitz v. Obama, Feinstein, Emken(G047746).

Because of fear of retaliation by Obama and the Obama administration, Taitz asked the court to allow the whistleblower to be able to submit identification information under seal and any testimony to be done in camera (in private).

“Inside Fort Meade, Maryland, a top-secret city bustles. Tens of thousands of people move through more than 50 buildings—the city has its own post office, fire department, and police force. But as if designed by Kafka, it sits among a forest of trees, surrounded by electrified fences and heavily armed guards, protected by antitank barriers, monitored by sensitive motion detectors, and watched by rotating cameras. To block any telltale electromagnetic signals from escaping, the inner walls of the buildings are wrapped in protective copper shielding and the one-way windows are embedded with a fine copper mesh.

This is the undisputed domain of General Keith Alexander, a man few even in Washington would likely recognize. Never before has anyone in America’s intelligence sphere come close to his degree of power, the number of people under his command, the expanse of his rule, the length of his reign, or the depth of his secrecy. A four-star Army general, his authority extends across three domains: He is director of the world’s largest intelligence service, 1) the National Security Agency; 2) chief of the Central Security Service; and 3) Commander of the US Cyber Command.

As such, he has his own secret military fighting force, presiding over the Navy’s 10th Fleet, the 24th Air Force, and the Second US Army”.
After reading the above, I’m still waiting for someone to logically explain to me how a young man with only a GED level of education could possibly walk off with 4 laptop computers full of NSA secrets…… something isn’t right here folks..

I saw this, too, but let’s keep in mind that Orly seems to be a magnet for folks looking to set her up. Don’t know if I’d buy into this right away without verification…

  32. Bob Struss….
This is what many of us here at CW have been saying for some time now…but with the “whistleblower” coming forward out of the White House is new stuff…it adds creditability to the whole Benghazi thing…

If this is documented and proven…this is a open and shut case for TREASON.

  33. Observer………….
I was once told in conversation witha 4 year BSME that in reality a BSME sheepskin was only proof of a person’s level of formal education…….the engineer portion relates to the fact that the person is also an excellent mechanic. That said one could take the view that a BSME is really only a good mechanic with a formal education.

  34. RMINNC…………
I would think that a person who has just lifted some computers, which allegedly contain classified information, and has carried them right past ALL of the alleged guards, stacked neatly under his arm, would have had some sort of a free pass, to NOT BE QUESTIONED about the computers. Or perhaps the guuards knew beforehand that he would be carrying some laptops out the door, and that they were to STAND DOWN,…….just like Benghazi. Yeah I think I have to agree on that one …..something stinks bad. I held TOP SECRET clearance as a result of being at the Eniwetok H tests.,and at that time you were investigated clear back to your childhood. Seems like if this gul had the propensity to rip off computers the FBI would have been more thhan aware of it.

  35. I think Snowden has had help in getting the info, and in getting away. There is probably still much to learn. I hope the Guardian releases more info soon.

  36. Normally, I just “read.” But, I would like to thank all of you, CW, RMinNC etc and mention another excellent site, theulstermanreportdotcom. There are reams of info there on Benghazi, stolen elections etc. The comments ( and links) are gold-mines. Should get my new key-board soon. Will breathe a sigh of relief…

  37. Can ANYONE out there tell me how to obtain the mailing address of Clare Daly in Ireland, who is a member of parliament. I have information which she should have.

  38. SueK, and RMinNC,
Let’s hope we find something that will stick to this usurper criminal, so we can reverse the fraud that has stricken our government.

There’s a lot of repair work to be done, after the removal of this usurper, and his co conspirators, including oldsailor81’s favorite, Nancy Pelosi.

  39. @oldsailor. Google “Irish Parliament,” look for “contact.” It should be the equivalent of going into your “White House” site

  44. @oldsailor. It was a pleasure! Keep up the “Good Work,” you people……USA is the last bastion of Freedom. We depend on you. God bless from Spain.

  45. Good morning CW et. al,

I did receive your email sent by CW. Unfortunately, I have ran off and left my Laptop power cord in Tennessee and wont be back home until Friday night. I have about 30min. of reserved power and will attempt to stretch it quickly reviewing posts as long as possible.

To answer your question from the other day (sorry I didn’t get back sooner – my Honey-do list grew that day 🙂 ) I believe you mentioned part of where I was going with this Snowden deal above. Of course, we don’t know (and may never be told) just exactly how much information Snowden took with him, but should not doubt it was everything he had access too, and work backward. This situation works in Obama’s favor in my opinion (for now). Obama’s goal is to bring down the U.S. so we are no longer the leader’s militarily and economically, we all know that. Obama himself cannot do this task alone. It works in the sense that Snowden delivers the damaging information to our enemies while Obama receives praises for his leadership acting as if he highly upset as the CINC and wishes to stop Snowden, working feverishly with Russia and China to return Snowden and possibly may even use some sanction (although it will a worthless one) to prove to the American people he is one of us and direly concerned for our Safety. Yet it is Obama and his foot-soldiers minions that plan this crap out. Always with two end goals in mind. Destroy or Breakdown the U.S. while given Obama the praises of working to expose those attempting to Destroy or Breakdown the U.S. Everything he does works the same, I don’t think this one is any different.

As I first said when this news broke, it’s Russia we have to watch out for with Snowden.
